hehe.. I raced this dude tonight in his 2k Celica (stock) vs my Eclipse GST with BOV/IC piping/Filter.. Off the line we were pretty close cuz I had soo much wheel hop.. damn turbo but as soon as I shifted into 2nd I walked away hard..he was cool as hell.. I flagged him to pull over..told him abut the website and brought him back to my house and told him all about the Celica and what not.. pretty nice guy, his gf was nice too.. that was fun.. not much of a race cuz a minivan was infront of me at about 60mph but up to it was good :)..

The eclipse really moves with these few mods.. my exhaust is sittin down stairs waiting to go on.. I cant wait.. I gotta get this car on a dyno..

Hey larryd have u done the free mod yet, the BCS and the dump tube mod they make a nices 2-3psi........next time try from a roll at about 15mph in 1st gear............what do u launch? Any thing over 3k in my gs-t i smoke the tires to second.

larryd

funny oldster :)

Prodigy.. Ive done the BCS but not sure how to do the dump tube.. any install guide somewhere?? as for my launching.. i tried at 2k and it still hops really bad once the turbo spools.. it didnt do that till i got my mods..

Prodigy

well larryd their is no need for the dump tube mod. Because u have the after market intake pipe. but on the wheel hop.....be very careful because u can break something...to stop wheel hop u should lower the tire pressure. Make sure they are the same perssure on both sides...really the only way to stop wheel hop on the Gs-t is to get a pair of AGX and some springs H&R, sprint what ever u want... good luck, i love mine but i think its supra TT time.
Do u have aim

up to 60....yeah thats about where the celi used to start pulling on me a bit. the 2G eclipse tho with those mods...

wanna line em up again for good times, pal? :)

i know that the eclipse will be a closer race with my car than your celica was. just dont swap out that T-25 or stock exhaust just yet...please.? :)

dump tube mod

take off the air filter and mass air meter {big ugly black box} do NOT take out the honey comb, thats a 1g mod for fuel cut. once you take off the mass air you will see a tube comming from the bov circulation return. there is a tube that goes from the BOV return to slightly infront of the turbo inlet. get rid of it.

thats the dump tube mod.

i forgot what the bcs mod was. care to share?

DP. exhaust, Boost controller, fuel pump and/or rewire,
i suggest a big 16g turbo for slapping more people around. can be had for a bit over 600 bucks from SST racing.

any other questions ya got. hit me up on AIM man, you know the name

SlasherX i don;t know the mods u have but a second gen Gs-t pulls real hard from about 15-100....its no celi... i think u will walk larry off the line if he does not launch right. because i'm always a car are so back, of ur GT brother to about 40 are so then second gear and they are gone.... but larryd car should run a mid 14 right now with his mods. But with downpipe, testpipe and exhaust he should run a high 13 with alot of luck and a great launch.

Bryan H, here is the link for the BCS mod http://www.jumptronix.com/2g_go_faster/Faqs/WasteGateSolenoidRestrictionFAQ.htm
The big 16g is a good turbo but i was thinking more like the new Big T28 its suppose to be better then all 16g turbos... And the big T28 will bolt right up to a 2gen. For about 750 bucks

Bryan H

kinda tough to remember things when you car is at stage 1587416263287593 in the mods list

i know my DSM's, and thats why i said what i said, and ill stand by that. larry's celi was a mid to low 14 second car, the night we raced prob. a high 14 second car cuz he had a bunch of stuff in it, street weight. since then i've added a bunch to my car, and have raced a 2g turbo gsx several times. i know the X is slower from a roll, but this X had more mods than larry, such as Intake, crsuhed 1G BOV, profec B boost controller set at 15 psi, upper I/C pipe, buschur downpipe, and buschur catback. at 12 psi he couldnt walk from me. at 15 it was under 2 cars.

from a stop, i'd have even more an advantage. now i never said I'd take larry, but i will say i'd have a better chance, esp. as long as he's on stock downpipe, boost level, and exhaust.

since july i've added an ud pulley, shorty headers, h pipe, improved dual exhaust, wires, ignition, subframes, and a short shifter. car's good for mid to high 14's once i get some 17's or DR's on there for traction at the strip.

<-- used to own 91 gsx 5 speed...LOVE dsm's.

i 100% agree with you, the torque steer on the GS-T's makes it one of the hardest cars to launch, period.

as my car sits, its biggest problem is getting the power down on 215inch tires. from rolls and street races though i will say that its every bit as quick as a 94-98 GT, and in a quartermile, i'd prob edge one out if it was driver to driver.

GT being as close to stock as possible of course.

but back to the subject..larry, you made a very good in car, and i can't wait to see it. DSM's, Supra's, and TT RX-7's are the only imports that I really really love, so you made a great choice.

you got it bro. i'm buying larry a beer next time i see him, so you're invited as well.

one thing i will say though..i knwo this is racing stories and all, but..

to hate on larry is just wrong. he almost DIED in his celica. I know I'm not one of his closest friends or anything like that, but I do care about the guy. So to people who criticize him, question his motives, blah blah, Eat A ****. Eat a bowl of 'em. then come back for more cuz i'll serve em out all day long to you.

BTW..larry if you want cheap parts, let me know over IM, i can give you a hook up.

Off-hand, I can say that there is a 350HP bolt on (about) upgrade. If he were to put in a K04, turbo-back exhaust, new diverter valve (or BO valve), turbo inlet pipe, chip, and intake (of coure with suspension tweaks) he should be good for low 13's. 12's are possible with the APR stage III kit, and other similar kits. Here is a dicussion at 20vturbo.com about the ATP upgrade:

i would be thinking injectors and fuel pump first. might as well throw an FPR on the table too

or just save up and get them all at once. and spend a couple hours putting it all together

what turbo are ya looking at?

GST's arent very fast off the line due to FF, but once they get going, they can be made to be VERY fast...

Bryan has the right idea, your going to need fuel to make a turbo worth it. Try a supra or walbro 255L pump, and at least 550cc injectors, but i would go 660cc on a 2G dsm personally. Then i would bolt on a forced performance green and have a whole bunch of fun.

that would result in NO traction till 100 mph
i like it :)

I actually know one FWD dsm guy that manages 1.7 60 foot times on his slicks... his green goes like a rocket!

i know I got tons of other things to do first.. like finish my exhaust with a down pipe and test pipe.. then I want to do some handling suspension work cuz this thing handles like a boat compared to the Celica :)

Get an Quaiffe. On just the Quaiffe, my buddy was pulling 1.9 60'. With the addition of slicks, he was getting 1.7-1.8.

For your next round of mods, go fuel first.

First get a fuel pump and rewire it.
Next, get the downpipe and hi-flow cat/test pipe.
Up the boost (get a boost controller if you don't already have one) and have some fun. You'll be replacing the clutch soon afterwards.

Next would be injectors if you plan going bigger turbo. 550s will be fine if you go Big 16G or smaller. 660s for 20G or bigger.
Along with those injectors, get an AFC. The list goes on and on.

good luck with the car.

A friend of mine just got a 6 bolt long block from japan for like 1000 bucks.

It came with all sorts of extra parts that he can sell as well, and i think the motor is the cleanest looking motor i have ever seen used.
