sup guys..i figured id ask the suspension xperts here:

what is the purpose of the helper spring?...i know the Tein HAs have them.........the Tein SSs(Super Street) is the exact same setup except it doesnt have the helper spring (same coilover, strut/shock, adjustability setup)...

if i was going to buy the SSs, how big a factor will this lack-of-a-helper-spring setup play if all im after is a "stock-like" feel for daily driving and Stiffness for drag racing...sorry, im not much of an auto-x'er...

thanx guys..

When the car weight is on the wheels, the helper is fully bound up, but when the wheel is off the ground, it's partially expanded. I think it's there just to keep the main spring in place when the weight of the car isn't on the suspension. With the amount of potential adjustment of ride height, the main spring itself is pretty short, so something is needed if the car is really lowered to keep the suspension together.

That's my take. I was kind of experimenting with it last weekend (while I was installing the new brake pads I just got.)
