I'm about to get my veilside replica (in a couple weeks) from AFS motorsports and although I've heard the quality is great (for fiberglass), I'm wondering what the winter will do to it. Do people who live in snowy areas take off their bodykits? Basically, we can get anywhere up to 2 feet at a time in New Jersey, but a normal snow will be like 3 inche;s. I wouldn't drive in 3 inches of snow or more, but I'm a little bit worried about road debree. I'm having a very thick clear coat put on and most likely a clear bra to help prevent rock chips. Anyway, who leaves theirs on/takes off their bodykit during the winter (assuming you live in an area would you might need to)?

Koch,

Last winter I drove the car back and forth to the Poconos with no problems, but with no kit. This year, I'm employing the help of a beater vehicle. If you put a good amount of cash into your car, protect it if possible during winter by not driving it in snow/ice.

i guess so, but I don't have the luxury of a beater car cause insurance is so high for me as is, that another car is just out of the question.

I have the same problem in Canada.. we get tons of snow here all winter long. I am gonna take off my TRD bumper and put the stock front bumper back on for the winter months. I am even taking off the WW spoiler and putting on the stock one. Last year my buddy with the WW spoiler had his crack. The WW V-line are phenomenal for getting water inside. The water then freezes over the winter months and causes the fiberglass to crack. I am not gonna take a chance and will install the stock spoiler for the cold weather.

Thats a good idea Scotty. My b-day is on Halloween and the WW spoiler is hopefully gonna be my b-day present. I prolly just shouldn't even get it put on then till spring. That sucks but ooh well.

New Jersey is horrible for insurance, especially if you are younger. Well, buy the kit and swap it for the stock in bad weather.

but the question is does the cold and wet weather have any effect on fiberglass to the point you would have to take it off every winter. xsounds like some wok to me....

Water gets inside of the WW spoiler.. which is fiberglass. The water freezes inside the spoiler over the winter cold months and cracks the fiberglass.

Any way of stopping this? Other than a little 'coat' to go over the spoiler??!!

I live in MI where we actually get way more snow (well not last winter). What i plan to do when i have the money is buy the rmm front lip for the winter and teh trial kit for the summer and swap both. The rmm lip might not match, but at least i'll still look cool...:) OH yeah, and i won't be driving the car in snow, but i know what u mean about debris. It gets real bad in the snow.
