i had an old mazda mx-3 before this but i wouldn't really call it a performance car. it was alright though, not many problems and it was somewhat fun to drive being a 5 speed :).

first monster performance car----> 1986 Honda Accord hatchback. Mods, spray painted gold rims, aerodynamic dent on drivers side, removed airfilter, cut exhaust piping, conversion automatic to manual look a like, little temp gauge from type r that looked like a boost gauge, turbo sticker on the back....lolz i riced it out once i found out i was able to get the celi. wrecked it in the rain tryin to drift(fishtail) hit a side walk and bent the whole entire frame of the car...my hood wouldn't close after wards.

Hahahah, no way!! I got an '80 Corona liftback sitting out front, it's what I drive to and from school. Engine in that thing is unbelievable, completely underpowered, things gonna last a lifetime. In terms of reliability I can't say enough about that car.

Does an '86 Civic hatchback count? It was the base model, carburated 1.3L making a whopping 85HP through a 4-spd trans. But can you say 1800lb. curb weight? :D Then I stepped up to an '87 Integra LS

That Isuzu I posted was a fast little car, sweat interior and handling like it was on rails, thanks to its Lotus tuned suspension, I had a Supertrap muffler with the baffles.

Mine would have lasted forever, except I was a victim of a cracked manifold--apparently a "known problem", not sure how wide spread.

I was able to haul everything in that hatchback.

As for reliability--absolutely right. I traded it in on a '88 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. Now that was a piece of ****.

I've had Toyotas ever since.
