1157 double filiment works fine, if you get like hyper white ones they blink yellowish then white, 1156 single filiment flashes all white if they are hyper/super white. and yea just shave off one of the nipples on the side, it's not that hard, i did it in a parking lot rubbing it against a curb. then just put it in the socket like the stock bulb.

I used some APC ones and shaved the taller once cause the grooves are low so if u shave the upper ones it will fit very nice

The reason WHY dual filament works is becuase of the way the connector is. The connection is a long flat piece of metal, which touches the bottom of the bulb:

The 1156 (single filament) has one contact in the middle like this: ( 0 ), whereas the 1157 (dual filament) has two contacts, next to each other like this: ( 0 0 ). The contact at the bottom of the connector is long, and comes in contact with BOTH of the connections on the 1157 bulb, which means whenever you signal, BOTH filaments come on. So, either 1156 OR 1157 bulb works. I tested this with a pair of orange 1157 bulbs.

BUT, to make EITHER 1156 or 1157 fit, one of the metal knobs must be clipped off. There are many different methods: using a file to shave it off, using the sidewalk to scrape it off, wire cutters to cut if off, nail cutter to cut if off, heck even your teeth (just kidding).
