Ok, I started looking through my owners manual and noticed they said that the GT-S needs gas with a minimum octane rating of 91. I always thought people said 93, so this was news to me. I have been putting 94 in since I bought it in April.

Anyways, what got my attention most was that next to the 91 minimum rating for the GT-S, it stated 96 Researched. For the GT engine, it said 87, but next to it, it stated 91 Researched. What does researched mean?

From my limited knowledge on the subject, Researched Octance Number (RON) is a one of the 2 measurements of octane rating for fuel. The other being MON (used in the US). They are both caluclated in differents ways.

As long as you fill up on the highest possible octane fuel for your area, your Celica will be fine. I fill up on BP ulimate 98 (98 RON).

US gas ratings as given at the pump are (RON+MON)/2. The average of RON and MON. I'm not sure any country uses just the MON rating although most of the rest of the world uses RON.

I only put 95 octane fuel in my car because I put 98 octane this one time and the car was running like crap. Thats why I dont put more than 96 in my car now.

WTF, you guys have 98 octane down there? We here in CA only have 91 as the highest octane.

Theres a 76 by my house that has 100 or 101 octance, its like 4 bucka gallon. I need to go try it but I heard your tank has to be completely empty before you fill it up.
