For those of you that it's been a while since your last autocross alignment, you might want to get it on a rack before the new season starts. I got mine done this past week, and when they put it on the rack, I got the following #'s (all the same conditions as before: same alignment rack, operator, me in car, everything out including spare, and 1/4 of gas):
Driver side front: -1.8 camber
Driver side rear: - 1.2 camber
Pass side front : -.8 camber
Pass side rear : -1.3 camber
Front total toe : 1/16" out
Rear total toe : Zero
Originally set at:
Driver side front: -1.7 camber
Driver side rear: - 1.3 camber
Pass side front : -1.7 camber
Pass side rear : -1.3 camber
Front total toe : 3/32" out
Rear total toe : Zero
This had only been about 3 months since my last alignment, so it's wise to have it checked often. A cool thing I found out is that NTB (National Tire & Battery) will do a free alignment check where they put it on the rack and give you a printout. I'm going to start taking advantage of this.
I've played with the settings a lot in the rear, and toe in has really made the rear less likely to snap oversteer in cold weather, so when I had it aligned this time, I had them mark a 1/2 toe in, so I can adjust it on site. I wasn't too far off with stringing the toe myself originally, so it's good to see I was close. My current settings are:
Driver side front: -2.4 camber
Driver side rear: - 1.3 camber
Pass side front : -2.4 camber
Pass side rear : -1.3 camber
Front total toe : Zero
Rear total toe : Zero to 1/2" in as needed.
I know Scott had the same experience with his alignment getting a little out of wack too. Also, make sure you can get to a place that will allow you to sit in the car. It makes an enormous difference. - Aaron
