Just noticed theres a different part number for the 2000 MY cams. Can't see any good reason why, but that could explain the lower VVTL engagement point 2000 owners have reorted. /shrug
This factoid brought to you by the coallition to Force All Slow Traffic to Exit the Road.

17 - Exhaust Camshaft . 1350229015
.
. 16 - Intake Camshaft . 1350129015

Yeah, I noticed that too. My 2000 gts doesn't go into lift until 6200rpm. I've seen other 2000 gts' start at 6000rpm.

i think they prolly might have changed the cams but i'm almost positve the lift is because of the ecu. I know there are like a bunch of diff ecu's for just the 2000 GT-S like 5 or 6 i think. Some like dave would know the exact number tho.

Obviously the lift timing is controlled by the ECM vis the Lift OCV. I was thinking that if the cam profile was slightly different it might have been why they turned it on lower.

nope, I actually have an extra ECU (don't ask why). When I had the extra one in lift kicked in at 5900 rpm's with the old one lift would kick in at 6200 rpm's

Dyno proof of this?

Right... point being that original ECU may have had a different logic to go with different cams.
I would like to see a Dyno of it though, be interesting to see which one puts out a better torque and HP curve. Sure would make it easier to land 2nd in lift.

I was also pointing out that a dyno would actually prove whether or not this is something that the tach is reporting or if in fact the motor has a different cross over point.
A dyno won't lie, and will tell exactly where it happens, no matter what the tach says....
would be very interesting indeed.

well if you look in the dyno section my car hits lift hard at 6200 were larrys did it at 6000 other then that the dyno's were very similar when we compared them.

No dyno of this, just something I noticed. I mean I wasn't expecting it to kick in so early, so I was really surprised. I can get a dyno done though. Might not be for a month or two though. Just need to remember to bring the other ECU. :)
