Did you get a custom paint job on the interior? (if so how much?) or did you do it yourself? (if so what type of paint and a basic how to) thanks, btw nice ride, the fisrt celica I have seen that actually looked good even without a wing!

Nice ride! I like the no-spoiler look. I'm thinking of getting rid of my spoiler, just to be a bit different. What do you people think?

i only think you can pull off the no spoiler look by having your car slamed.
jokers car is pretty low( thanks to ground controls i think) and that why his car looks awesome.
if you had your car at stock ride height and no spoiler in would look horrible.
dropping your car gives it the more sleek look and it flows well without or with a spoiler.

thanks guys....
i'm gonna have to agree with x-evil-x on this one... celicas need to be low to look right without a spoiler.... honestly i hate how celicas look stock without the spoiler... also i'm not sure the no spoiler look would go well with a sunroof... i'd have to see one done that way first....
your car looks real nice though man!

Thanks for the tip guys!! I'm going to take your advice lower the car first, then decide. Speaking of slamming my car, I NEED SOME HELP ON THAT!!! I have no idea where to start, all I know is I want to lower the front and rear before I get new wheels (17" or maybe stay with factory?). Any suggestions on how low? (1-2"???) and what parts I should get, what brand is good?
Let me know, the more replies the better!! I need everyone's opinion...

well 1 to 2 inches might be able to pull it off but like my car and jokers car we have our ground controls set pretty low.
his is probally a little lower than mine but i have a different body kit then him.
anyway, mines set a about 2 1/2 inches in front and 3 inches in back.
ground controls are awesome and i dont mind the ride at all.
i get compliment on my car all the time and people like how low it is.
i say go with the ground controls and then in a half a year or longer get new shocks and your car will handle awesome and look it too.
ground controls will set you back 400.00 dollars plus install but they're worth it.
hey joker do you think i could pull off the red dash and speedo thing like you.
i have a black gts.
im thinking of doing my dash red and my calipers red and some other stuff.
what do you think/recomend.
thanks
your car looks awesome and i hope you have that install up on the gauges soon.

Thanks man... mine is around 2.5 and a little over 3 in the back....
if i had a black gts, i would def do the red.... it matches the red GTS badge... it would look really good imo, red dash and console, red fillin decal, red brakes, and if you get a windshield banner then black/red on that too...

your car is officially one of the nicest I have seen on this board. It looks like a bullet in that 3rd picture, that is the first thing that comes to mind, I hope you can turbo that sucker someday.. that'd be cool... pure speed and looks. Anyways that slammed look pulls of the no spoiler with a ton of class. and i think those wheels are perfect with the spectra blue. I have seen those on a few blue's around here and those are nice.

whoa man... that has got to be one of the best complaments i've gotten! thanks man... http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smile.gif
oh yes, one day it will be turboed http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/biggrin.gif i am pawning everything i have of value except my car and computer(gotta check the board http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smile.gif)
btw, i got a TRD windshield banner now, as well as custom headlight covers, a TRD cf shift knob, and some custom gas/temp/needle stuff... i'm leaving the banner and covers on for now to see how i like them, then i deciede whether to keep them or not...

Sweet a$$ ride joker. I prefer the celi in dark colors cause the lights stand out more. I was just curious though, with your rim and tire size 215/45/17, did it throw off your speedo at all?

thanks man... it's very likely that it was off a little, 215/40/17 would have been closer, but the percent difference is barely anything, not to mention i've take off my needles and put them back on so many times it's crazy... i just reset them as close as i can... a couple of mph off is no big deal, at high speeds your speedo is off anyway cause your tires aren't perfectly round going that fast..

Hey that's Optimus P's car!!!! Hehe...nice ride man. How much did you have to pay Mike for it? Have you done any of your own mods to the car since you bought it from him? And did Mike get his new WRX yet? I haven't been on this board for like 2 month...peace

How did you get the powerchip in the Celica GT? I have contacted powerchip, and they say that they don't have a chip for the GT as of this time. Is that the MR2-spyder chip, or the GT-S chip? How difficult was it to get installed?

They sent over two powerchips to be tested and i managed to get one of them. i'm pretty sure they decieded not to follow through with them so they aren't making anymore at this time.
about the only difference between this chip and a s-afc is the chip also adjusts timing but needs a computer hookup.. .the s-afc looks much better and is cheaper.
install wasn't hard... running the wires through the firewall and behind the dash was the hardest part.
i haven't gotten to dyno tune it yet so i have no idea what power it's making, but i would say i doubt it will be alot... without alot of other mods a chip would not be worth the $$$ and even with lots of mods a s-afc may be a better option...

Ok- thanks for the info. Powerchip claims 10% gain on their chips, so i'd be really curious to see a dyno on it. Is there any way you can post the model # so i can do some research? Thanks again.

Joker- your car looks tight as hell. Good job man. You said your car is dropped 2.5 and you have a kaminari kit, i was just wondering if you scrape alot? I was thinking about 2" drop with a kit but I heard it would be difficult with the bumps.
ps thanks for the led needle GP.

Hey what does the Powerchip do?
z6joker9
11-27-2001, 10:21 AM
i dont know the model # for the powerchip but if you'll pm me or email me or something i might can describe it better...
my car is 2.5 in the front, a little over 3 in the back(tucking a little tire back there).... i have the kam front bumper, and yes i do scrape quite a bit... with 215/45/17 also... so a little bigger tires than stock... if you are careful you shouldn't have many problems but sometimes i dont think about it and i scrape somewhere... the rod millen sides also sometimes catch a large bump(leaving a parking lot or something and entering traffic) but it's all held up well, no cracks...
the powerchip hooks to a laptop and lets you adjust the a/f ratio, timing, etc in the ecu....

nic pics ahmed, are those the new reddout tails? They look nice. Like i told you, I was planning on painting the dash silver to keep it clean. Looking at those pics makes me what to paint my dash and console red now. If I do decide to paint it red, I'll probably get some indiglos to go along with it.

I agree, this is one of the best examples I've seen of a modified Celica. It's clean and it's simple - the way it should be. Most of the examples I've seen of Reader's Rides have been absolutely horrific! Great job.
