Hey guys i've been coming to this site for a while now and it is now my turn to get my Celica, i have been reading all the posts about the 2001 and the 2002 Celica GT-S 6 speed and i don't know if i want to get the 2002 because of the lower red line and other changes to the car from 2001. i would like to get a 2001 so i could have extra money for mods but i think i would like a brand new car since i'll be the first owner and i'll get everything i want. i have to meet with my toyota dealer thur. at 6 so i'm really hoping that you guys will tell me what you think, and what you would do! thanks in advanced..

I don't think redline matters. Redline is 8100 on the Matrix (same motor) so... redline has always been so subjective. The motor is probably good for 9000 rpm in short spurts. Redline is decided by pencil pushers. Gotta go new!!! Are you really sure, though, that there are no '01's left? Try callin' around some places that have a lot of snow on the ground. I KNOW if I hadn't bought my new '01 GTS a month ago, the damm thing would still be sitting on the lot, covered with snow.:)

Personally, I would look at what the 2001 offers and what the 2002 offers. The price should be significantly lower for the 2001 since it is the end of the year. Other than the plastic grill, there isn't really a change between the 01' and the 02'. As long as the 01' isn't a demo car, there really isn't the need to buy an 02'.

Just my .02

Yeah i'm pretty sure your local dealer must have a '01 GTS left laying around, i know there is a couple at my dealer but that doesn't mean anything for you. I also would not take the demo car, that things probably been through too much **** even though i bet the price is real nice. I would personally look for a '01 GTS and not have to worry about the lower redline. Goodluck.

well i called around all day today and i found no new GT-S 2001's on anyones lot but i did find a few used ones and its a good thing i did cause when i went to the dealer the guy i've been talking to gave me the run around big time and was pushing a GT that was on there lot that a friend of mine traded in. it was a 2001 but he wanted 19000 for it and i know you can get 2002 GT's for that much, so after fighting for a while and the other dealer games i was able to get them to find me a 2000 or 2001 GT-S with everything i want for 300 a month. and that is a lease! so if you guys can tell me if you think that a 2000 or 2001 GT-S should be 300 a month or if i'm getting ripped off.

PS i am trading in my Grand am GT for a tiny more then what i owe and i'm paying fee's as the down payment.

Thanks once again to the people that replyed and i hope to hear from more!!!!!
