Hi everyone! Maybe you've answered this question before, but I was wondering if there's anything I could do to fix up my GT, performance wise. I'm dying to work on my car, but honestly, is it worth it to buy parts for my automatic GT? Some of my friends say I will feel a little difference, and some say it's not worth it. Can i get a celica driver's opinion? I've had my car since 99, and the only mod I've got is a dent on my bumper from someone hitting me =( I think it's about time I buy some parts

What are you after? Power, turns, or both? I think for an automatic GT, it'd be best to work on the suspension. Maybe some lowering springs and larger anti-sway bars. Stickier tires for grip and maybe go as far as plus sized rims.

With that in mind, you can probably add a bit of power. AEM CAI and Veilside Titanium exhaust (way lighter than TRD and stock for around $100 more).

With all that, you can start autocrossing or joining some of the other cars at track events. Your GT is a very good car for turns.

Hey, don't worry about the auto GT thing. I know how you feel. Just go for show mods like a body kit, rims, wing, etc. If you are in the market for some NICE Racing Harts Evo's with tires, give me a PM :)

I was aiming towards raising my torque. I can't afford to become a real racer, so for the time being, I'm just a wannabe =(
I was just wondering what I can do/buy to just feel a little more speed or power, off the line. Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, or acting like a dumb girl, but I'm trying hehe. I basically just want to be faster. Is it possible to not spend a lot of money, and still feel a difference? Or....maybe i should just forget it?

My car is silver....I wanted electra blue, but they told me I had to wait cuz they didn't have any in. I couldn't wait =) I think i was one of the first ones to get the new celica =P

One thing to remember is due to the smaller 1.8L of the engine, torque will be hard to get. Best mod for torque is forced induction. But at the moment, there aren't any reliable kits out there for the 7th gens.

Luckily, the GT's 1zz engine is a better candidate due to the lower engine compression ratio. It's just a matter of time until someone comes out with a kit that actually works (especially with the US restrictive emission laws). Of course, a lot of us have been saying that since the 7th gen came out. So who knows.

One thing you could always try is getting a 2nd car as a project car. I myself have an automatic 2000 GT-S. I pretty much missed the low-end torque that my old 83 Celica GT 2.4L engine made. Plus, I eventually decided that stick was the way to go. So I eventually bought a cheap 5-speed 1992 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo AWD (essentially an Eclipse GSX). Eugene (another OG 7th gen owner) can help quite a bit in this field since he studies a lot on turbos. :)

Of course, it all depends on what you really wanna do. ;)

wel you have to ask yourself what your goals are. Set some goals before starting to find out about parts. Just out of our head what do you want to accomplish with YOUR car. Work with what you got, and dont have any regrets. Because if you are, i suggest just holding off until you get a car you don't have regrets on getting. You'll just end up wasting money if you dont.

of course there is. don't get too high of expectations in the beginning though. start with the basic mods: which is usually a cai (cold air intake) and exhaust. as far as brands go and the different types; i dont know much about the gt, but my friend had one and he had trd exhaust and injen cai and that was a very nice combination. with those 2 mods you should feel a pick up on performance. (notice i didn't say torque) but yes.. what your friends said were true when they said you will feel a "little difference" but little to you could be massive to another.

as far as being an auto gt.. dont even trip.. i know all the OG people here remember the name of "asian2sensation" and his 2000 automatic gt with just rmm short ram intake and big ass heavy rims. he was beating on automatic GTSs. yes PLURAL. ive seen it with my own eyes. he was also the only auto gt who use to run out in the milpitas illegals.. AND WIN. so don't look down on your auto gt. because you can probably beat auto GTSs. ;)

well basically what DragonKnight said above. If your looking for torque, then the celica is not where you should be looking at. if you really really really want to go all out with your auto gt though, and you want to full-fill ur goals of going faster with more torque and being able to become a "racer". then go with some type of forced induction. like Dragonknight said, because of your GT's engine it can probably take on forced induction better than the GTS.. (now dont you feel better that you have a GT now.. GTS owners are still trying to get reliable boost). However its not going to be easy or cheap. If money and time and labor is not an issue then go for it. If it is, then just go the easy way out, get NAWWWWWS. haha.. nitrous. you won't be dissapointed and you should feel a big difference.

wel if you don't want to deal with all of that.. you can always make your car a sweet show car.. and i think the color you mean is "spectra blue mica". the only electron blue color i remember is coming from the 99-00 Civic Si, you could always repaint it to that though..

dont worry about having a GT AUTO..youll still be a pimp regardless lol..cough cough....i have a GT AUTO lol...and its slowly but surely getting fixed up for show....in my opinion..its not really a waste of money to fix it up.....becuase it is a CELICA =)

Well as of now, I don't really have any goals. I'm currently unemployed hehe, but I'm a full time student, so it's hard to find a job that will work around my schedule. I'm looking into a CAI and exhaust. Hopefully everyone knows what they're talking about, because a couple of my racer friends said that it's a good idea. But besides that, I should really fix the dent on my front bumper. I'm definitely not trying to make it into a show car like Richard's tho =P.. but I would like some lowering springs and rims.

Does anyone know any laws about accidents? I have an embarrassing story about my dent, but it happened about a year ago. It's not my fault, and the person who hit me never paid me. Is there any law that says that I can't call her up right now, and ask her to pay me now? I just found all her information while i was cleaning my room hehehhe.

If you get rims bigger than 16", your performance will decrease. I felt a power decrease when I switched from 16"-17" rims. But im not going to go back becuase the tires on my 17s are better than on the 16s heh.

Yeah, file a claim and get it fixed at my shop! OR you can contact the person that hit you and tell them they're obligated to pay or you will bring them to small claims court and sue their asses.

The whole story is...
I was driving in the De Anza parking lot, and some girl just backed into me, while she was reparking her car. I filed a claim with my insurance company, but later cancelled it, when the girl asked me not to go through the insurance company. I guess she was broke, and didn't want to involve them. We made an agreement that she'd pay me the money, because, it was pretty obvious that it was her fault. I got an estimate, and she asked me to get another one, because she thought it was cheaper if i didnt' go to the Toyota dealership that I had wanted to go to. So I go to a different one, and fax it to her. She was supposed to give me a response, and never did. I called her, left a message, and she never called back. I also filed a report with the De Anza campus police, but when I went to get proof of the accident, they couldn't find any record of the accident. If I were to get a hold of her now, and ask her to pay up, do I have any proof? Right now, I have her full name, her driver's license number, license plate number, insurance company at the time, the claim # of the accident, and all expiration dates. Most of which is in her own handwriting. Do you think it's proof enough? But I guess there is no proof that she was the one that hit me. Yes, that is proof enough. Call her back and if she4 doesnt pick up, tell her that you have all her info and that you will bring her to small claims court if she does not pay up. That should scare her enough so that she will at least contact you back and work something out.

Okay, I called my insurance company and asked if the claim still existed. Apparently it still does, but they don't have any details about the accident. They gave me another number to call (the people who deal with the details), but I have to wait until Monday to call. I have all the all the girl's information, but basically there is no proof that she said she'd pay for the damages. So, maybe she'll change her mind, and say she won't pay for it, since there is no proof that she caused the accident. This is what I get for being irresponsible =(... and to think, if I hadn't been nice, and went through the insurance, my car would've been fixed by now. Another thing to think about is, maybe she moved back to England, where she's from. AHHHHH!!!

She rear ended me.
We made an agreement that I'll go through my insurance to fix the car and that she'll just give me payments. Blah blah,... but yeah.. She still hasn't given me all of my money yet.

i use to acknowledge all fellow celica owners on the road back in the day. now the car is pretty common a lot of people dont notice. i dont go deanza but im usually around the 408 alot.. that sucks that the person u rolled wit flaked.. u should go to the next one. and hey ill roll wit u ;)

An hr should be enough time, but it also depends on what time you have class. If it's early like 7 am, don't worry about parking, but if you start around ten, make sure you come early for the first week. Then around 12, there's more parking. Actually, I don't even know how the parking is in the parking structure though. I always park in lot B. Good luck on your first day of class. If you wanna know which teachers to take and which not to take, let me know. It makes a bigggg difference.
