Depending on the direction of travel I see some potential places that a out of control car could leave the course and re-enter in a bad place

Wow thats an extremely compact course. I have a feeling upon completion there will be wall barriers instaled or at best tire baracades. On problem with that course is the close proximity. Similar to NXracers theory, a car running of course can easily cross over at different sections making it twice as dangerous.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain that the final version would include barriers.. They would have to, I'm sure there are sanctioning body rules out there regarding track safety.

Yes it is a compact course... but at the same time, you have to appreciate the scale that its at right now... this is shot from a chopper... if you compare the width of the house next to the track to the track itself you'll see that the track runs 40ft across.

I'm sure they're gonna have the sactioning bodies up their asses about things like barricades, sound level, operating times, allowed operators, etc, etc... either way though i just cant believe they've built a road coarse that you can actually go on a mile from my house.... I'm gonna become the road coarse champion of the world >... hehe...

in all seriousness though ... if theres a road course, that means there'll be racing schools... which is very cool when you have to shell out 3G and not worry about your hotel stay and food and all that stuff.

NNJR-SCCA has already looked at it, back in early November prior to it being paved, and thought it was too tight for a wheel to wheel program.

From what I understand from Perry Aidelbaum(www.autox4u.com), Raceway Park is looking mostly to marque clubs and driving schools to rent it. Cost is not set, but figure on a_lot. For a Saturday one day autocross, Raceway Park charges $1500. Real race tracks rent in the 10,000 to 20,000 range. I've heard management is looking for something like the 10k figure.

IMHO, unless they install some serious barriers and high catch fencing (20+ feet), I don't see how any organization's insurance is going to allow activity there. Even more critical than the course wrapping around on itself, is that it runs at the absolute boundary of the Raceway Park property, with the longest straight parallel to and only 25' away from a public roadway (Pension Road)! Yikes! Sound control is going to be another problem. The immediate surrounding area is being taken over by new housing developments with residents without a clue the dragstrip is there until they hear their first gen-u-whine racing engine at 10:30am on a weekend morning. Consequently, Raceway Park has a lot of neighborly relations problems.

Kind of another good example of when a drag racer tries to road race! :-)

While there, I will use one of the motocross tracks or do a few sets(slalom passes)on the tournament lake across the street, I think thats what it is.:D

That is too bad. It looks like a prime tournament site(5000 feet, plus long). You might have to open the right end to make for easier turnaround. I can wish can't I!!?

My brother Todd lives in Lake Hopatcong. He was trying to figure out where this place is.:D

I'm 99% sure the lake and the airstrip are part of the Raceway Park property. I've see boats in the lake, and yes the turns at the ends are pretty tight, but do-able.

The place has been there since the 1950's. It's located off of County Road 527(I think thats the route #). I take Route 18 south from New Brunswick, into Old Bridge, then due south on the County road towards Englishtown/Freehold. Raceway Park is 6-7 miles south of 18. Another popular way there is the Parkway to Route 9, then right on Texas Road, to left on 527.
