I've been trying to think of some kind of idea to do around my car for car shows in the future.

I know right off the back I want nothing to do with cotton, wood chips, mirrors etc. That stuff is so played out.

I want something original, something that flows with my car and something that catches attention.

Any ideas?

I personally like a car that does not have to much. Don't bring all your trophies and keap it clean. If your car is clean people will notice it alot more that if you have alot of stuff around it. The car needs to have a flow to it so that it draws the people into it closer. Have a custom stand made for it that tells about the car and also have pics so that people and judges can look at to see what you have done to it. I know this is my own .2 but you know it works when people look at a car and just walk over to look at it because it looks good and when they get up close it looks even better not cluttered. Alott of people will tell you different but if you look at alot of the bigger shows the set ups differ alott you just need to come up with a theme to the car and go with it. Keep I deas open look at other people set ups and if you like one thing about it and you want to do that then incorporate it into your theme. Just don't over do it to the point that people spend more time looking at the stuff around your car then they do looking at it.

Thanks Ed for your advice. I don't want to over do it to where the set is taking more attention then my car.

I've been to a lot of car shows, and seen a lot of designs, but I haven't found one that just caught my attention. I've seen a lot that I've told myself that I would never do. (ie: the rope around the car, mirrors, woodchips, cotton, cotton w/ glitter etc)

I want to be original yet still make it flow, but not be to much.. anymore ideas?

Do you have some type of theme for your car? Do you know which way you would like the car to be eventually? Once you start seeing which way your car is going it might help to come up with how you set up the car as far appereance and so on. Just take your time and at each show try something different like how the doors are open or the wheels are turned out the hood is opened and so on. You have to try different things out before you get a good feel for it all. Maybe you could do like Kelica does and model your own car. Lori Ann a NASA model and Euriboni model and rep did when I first met her and know she is sponsored and models for a living and she still works on her own car. Hopefully this will help I have been showing cars for at least 10yrs and it just takes time to find out what atrractes people and judges to your car. Keep it clean and don't do things to it half way either do it right or don't do it all. Trust me going that little extra mile to do it right will pay off in the end. Save your money up and just take your time and it will work out for you. And especially don't get mad because you don't have it all done right know I do that sometimes and my girlfriend has to tell me to calm down.

I think the best display is usually beyond just for looks. The display should function well, and highlight the key points of the car, enhance it, or place emphasis on areas that maybe overlooked. For example, if you have a heavily modded engine, you'll probably want to put some lighting around that area, so people can see it better. If you have a nice under-carriage, or mods there, you probably want to design a way to show that. Just bear in mind that the purpose of the display is to help showing the thing you're showing (the car in this case) but NOT to be made the main point of emphasis.

Byron is right if you do something to your car it does need to highlight what you have done. Some people just go way to beyond for looks almost makes you want to :puke:

I'm not going to throw a model on my car. I got my girls in La Femme Elite (all girl car club) to model on my car for the show, plus me as well. That should attract a lot of attention ... having 4 beautiful girls walk around my car.. I'll have to post pictures when a car show comes up, and when I do this.. ;)

yeah.. keep it simple.. that's what i've learned in the past couple months.. i just got a canopy for outdoor daytime shows, and it kinda hides part of the car (bad) but makes the screen alot more visible inside the car (good)

I agree on just do stuff that's functional.

good luck at the show :)
