Painted Console ?

Wazzup guys!

i was considering doing my center console as well as the gauge bezzel in red. Is it possible to take it apart and spray paint it, and if so, is there any special kind of paint that needs to be used? recomendations? Also, would it be too difficult to do it yourself?:ugh: Or should I look for some kind of red vinyl roll? I know that bluebat is working on some center console kits, but looking for cheaper way to do it :monkey:

I did my own paint job and it looks great, I used "painters touch white sandable primer" and primed everything 2 coats. Then a few coats of "Rustoleum paint" ( i ono what kind for your red to get, i did mine in metallic silver). Then I finished it off with a few thick layers of "Rustoleum Clear Gloss Finish". And yes i did my gauge bezzel too and its real e z to take everything apart.

go to a body shop and get it done. my pix have bat's vinyl vent overlays. my car is silver btw. went w/ the silver & red combo...looks nice.

Does anyone know how to take apart that plastic piece that surrounds that adjusters to your side mirrors? Also how to I take apart my center console, my car is an auto so it's a little different then the manuals, I guess.

Pete, how did you do your console?

Just get a flat head screw driver and pry the plastic piece up. It will be connected to the operating box and just remove it from the plastic piece, once you see how they are connected you will know how to separate them.

hilfiger, nes is right. its fairly easy, jus pop it and pull it off.

i got a bodyshop to paint the pieces. 150 canadian cash tax free...pretty good hehe

Do any of you who've painted your console have paint scratching or chipping problems? I know the stock paint on my shifter surround is seriously scraped off in some areas, and I don't wanna waste time painting it if it's just gonna scrape off again soon.

wahili --> the two things on the side just shine neon blue light onto the stereo. looks pretty nice !

blue --> nope my paint doesn't chip or scratch. i dunno what they did to it, but they told me to run my nails through it and it left no scratches, only finger print / oil marks which u can easily wipe away

I havent been behind the console but is it possible to replace the LED's with Blue LED's or would it be a major pain in the a$$??
