Interesting. Looks like you have your work cut out for you next year. Unless a lot of folks jump ship, next years GS should easily be the largest class at nationals.

Of course, the new "DS" will remain relatively unchanged.

I should also note that "pitcrew's" wife will have her work cut out for her.

We do have a very good woman driving a neon locally, that will be a nice benchmark.

Unfortunately, we have a very good type R driver locally and I know I am consistently short of that benchmark...

Neat overlay of results. See why the SEB and the Stock Advisory Committee put these cars together.....:P

Actually, with DS and GS running in warmer conditions than ES this year (it was downright cold 2nd heat Friday), the results area little skewed against Celicas, and also Mr. Carpenter, but we'll try to ignore that. http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/frown.gif

Next year should be fun, even more than this year.

Don't forget a few cars that were not competitive for GS last year and did not go to Nationals in 2001. One car in particular that will be my "dark horse" for the new GS next year is the Subaru Impreza RS. A little down on power and slightly heavy for GS last year, but against some lower hp cars???

2000 Impreza RS
165 hp / 166 lb/ft
2820lbs
All Wheel Drive
16" x 7" wheels

A properly prepared RS with a good driver would be hard to beat in the new GS. IMHO

There is also the VW Corrado. Saini still has "the good one" in his driveway but remember just like the Chiles SE-R it was rebuilt to autocross. Jason finished 14th at the 2000 nationals in it and has admitted to not driving well.

The Subaru 2.5RS does look good on paper but we don't race there. I talked to Burns last year about it, he did not feel it would work well in stock trim. He has driven both so? I could be wrong, Jack could be wrong and so on and so on... I do think it will be a great car for Pro Solo.

I suppose the question really is (this applies to any non-proven car). Will a driver of the caliber to win Nationals risk trying one? We will find out in the spring.

My list of Proven Cars
85-87 CRX Si (Probably only Rob's)
BMW 318is
Celica's
Camaro V6 (the real sleeper)
Neon ACR
Nissan SE-R (probably only Mark's)

"Driver" will enjoy having someone to keep her honest locally. She beat that Neon quite handily at the Petersburg pro even with the Miata's tough PAX, and she's driving far better now. Her Celica will be outted this weekend... should be an interesting season!
