I'm a newbie when it comes to fixing up the stereo and was wondering how hard it would be to install a single din headunit in a celica gt. Is it an easy self install? Any tips? Thanks!

Get the right dash kit. Get a wiring harness and plug it in. It's usually that simple. IMO

Cool, thanks for the replies.

One more thing, does anyone know if the stock '01 Rav 4 headunit is the same as the '02 celica gt hu? I'm asking this because my friend wants to sell me his dash kit with pioneer hu. Just wondering if that dash kit would work on my celica.

Also, how would I go about taking out the stock hu? Thanks again!

doubt the rav4 kit is the same. the ford focus one is the same. as for taking out the old one. hopefully you have a stick because i don't know about autos. for a stick you just take the shift boot, and push down on it. it pops off the surrounding plastic. then pull up on the silver plastic piece it pops right off. unscrew the two screws the the ac plastic that are now visible, and then take off the ac knobs and take out those two screws. that whole piece from clock to the bottom now pulls off. have to unplug the clock's wiring harness though. then the stock radio is held in by 4 10mm (or 12mm?) bolts. probably 10. toyota loves 10mm bolts. the whole car is held together by them. anyways, from there you're basically done. just unplug the harness. then buy a wiring harness, match all the wires up, crimp them together, and install the new one.
