well in addition to the normal tick (which is slightly louder than normal on my car) from the belt/pulley area, today it was raining and it started squeaking. LOUDLY. when i'd throttle it, the squeaking would get quicker and slowly fade out. sometimes it wouldn't squeak. other times it would. when i got home it wasn't squeaking.
i'm assuming it's nothing serious (just squeaking belts) but why's it doing this? will the dealer take care of it? will it happen again (or only in humid/rainy weather)?

Hey, I had the same problem some odd weeks ago. It was raining bad, and i ran over some massive puddles. got home and noticed these squeeking sounds at idle. I would rev it anywhere just above 1500would go away.once it dropped below 1500 it came back!!! anyway, the next day, it didnt sound as loud, and by the 3rd day, it was gone.... figure something around some belts just got a little wet..then dried up everythings fine now... hope this makes you feel better.

i Had the same problem , but now mine does it every time the car gets warm. Took it to the dealer and showed them and they put engine belt dressing on it and said if it keeps up they will replace it. The belt stayed quiet for about 3 days and started again so I guess it is back to the dealership. One hint though, Bring the car to them with it squeling and bring them out and show them( even if its raining) or else they will say they could not duplicate the problem.

It's a probelm that I've had for months. I drove me crazy, I had taken it to the dealer 3 times without them being able to fix it (because it would never squeal on the day that I took it).
But finally, this week, I fixed it!
It was under warranty, the problem was the Belt Tensioner making noise.
So, the dealer replaced:
BELT, V-RIBBED (90916-02310)
TENSIONER ASSY, V (16620-22031)
Try to take it in when the engine is sqealing.

Reminds me of the problem I have with the factory alarm. Everytime it rains the alarm will go off spontaneously. After I disarm it, the remote won't work for like 15 mins. I've taken it to my delearship twice, but on both occasions the alarm worked fine, even after they hosed down the car. Oh well. It's probably just haunted.

yah..i just had the tensioner and belt replaced 2 days ago...had the same problem, and it is under warrante
You are indeed covered under warrenty. I've had the same problem, and I brought my car in every time it would squeak. Finally, the fourth time I brought my car in they finally fixed it. Took them four times to get it right when it should have been fixed the first or second time.
Bring your car in the morning that it starts squeaking. Try not to go over 50 mph (highway) since the fast spinning will make your squeak softer or fade away even.
This is I guess the part number. Im not sure.

is it a sqeak or a more grinding metallic sound? I have a dull grinding sound coming from under the hood. The sound reminds me of a water pump that is about to go but it only makes noise at bout 3500 to 4000 rpm's at 40-60 mph. could this be the belt tensioner? it also does not make noise until it has warmed up a little
