Don't slam it into 2nd. Try to shift quick and smooth. Can't really give any other advice till we know your full time slip.

Your 1/8 should be around 9.7!

Your 1st problem is your 60'. It isn't atrocious, but it isn't good either. Try slipping the clutch at around 4500rpm. Your #2 problem is your 1/8th. Are you landing on the 2nd cam on the 1-2 shift? Did you grind the 1-2 on that run? If so that's what is killing you.

i would practice my launch also but track is soo much different than street. Whats a good RPM to launch at? oh and a wierd thing happend to me tonight i lauched really bad (dumped the clutch) and my rpm's shot up to 7000 but somehow i hit fuel cut... i ended up with a 16.4... oh well i guess things happen.. i hope i havent f'd up my car.

yup i grinded on that one too.. umm... are you keeping the rev at 4500?? or what, im not much of a driver... when i tried to do that the car krept forward... i guess i gotta get used to it.

If you get way to much wheelspin the fuel cut should kick in at 7200 rpm. It prevents your axles from spinning way to fast to cause any damage. Launching read my post.

Make sure the clutch is fully depressed. Hold the revs steady at 4500rpm. Light goes green start to release the clutch car should start to creep. Keep doing it until you up and going and just dump it. Should hop and take off.

3000-3500 rpms is a good launching point!!

ok gotcha soo i hold it from 3000-4500 rpms slowly let the clutch out, but how do i get a better reaction time? daym i wanna try this right now but neighbors are sleeping ahah

R/T doesn't mean a thing. So don't worry about it. The only time it counts is if you are brakcet racing.

Find an empty alley to practice in! Or you can do it at stoplights :gap:

Stoplight accelerating is now considered a form of racing, even if its against yourself. :gay:

Practice makes perfect. The street and the track are two entirely different beasts.

i dunno what da hell! i've tried slamming on the gas and i've tried "auto-shifting"... i sit there and rev till 2k and then release the break at light. i'm ok at reacting but i think there's a lot of drag that's holding me back. i try to push my car but it actually drives slow  i remember when we did 1/8 mile runs at the track i got a decent time on my first run (better than sam's on the bottle) but then it went to crap afterwards & that was on my 15s. my times have been better on the 17s - that i don't get  i really blame the addition of the header, hopefully in a couple of thousand miles i'll get the courage to throw in the s-afc and let it do its magic. i've talked to shops and they told me that would be my next best bet. so i guess we'll see.

i'm thinking of going to the track tomorrow considering i'll be doing my 30k check today...maybe there is something wrong that can be fixed  if so, i may pull some weight out of the care too...
