I know that most of you guys recommend running 15s or 16s for autox, but what about a 17x7 that supposedly weighs 12 lbs?

Look at this link:

What do you all think?

They look all right and the price is good. On the other hand, all the ofsets I see are huge, 48mm or so. Factor in the cost ($70-100 per corner) for spacers and the weight (at lest 1 pound per corner).

If they are not 35-38mm offset I would pass this one up.

Also, what tire do you plan to run on them? Only the Nitto 555 comes in 225/40-17 (to maintain the gearing of the Celica). Everything else is bigger at 225/45-17.

Lots of choices in 225/45-17 though.

Right now, I would say the hottest STS combo would be the Falken Azien in 225/50-16 on a 16x7.5 inch wheel. Maybe even a 215/45-16 on a 16x7 or 16x7.5 wheel.

The 225/45-17 still wouldn't be bad though. We are talking tenths to hundredths of seconds here, driving the right line and optimizing speeds will gain you a lot more than any of these wheels and tires (in other words, they wouldn't be so bad).
