View Full Version : how can I raise the hp?

I heard that a 2002 or 2003 standard Celica GT has about 140 horse power so I was just wondering what I could do to increase that. I don't know a whole lot about cars so try to explain it in words I might understand. Also, changing the subject, how is the room in the 2 back seats? I know there isn't too much but is it possible for someone to sit their without being uncomfortable? Alright, thanks.

it's easy to increase the hp a little, say 8-10hp. just a exhaust replacements, and a intake(that replaces the airbox) will increase hp a little.

as for the rear seats, if you over 5 feet tall, its going to be rough in the back seat. i've had a few people back there, and they complain'd the whole time. or maybe it was my driving eheheheh... the rear passenger got motion sick in the back eheheh.

intake/headers/exhaust/nitrous/turbo/supercharger/engine swap/raise compression/.....
those will all raise horsepower... depends on how much you wanna spend.

All of what those guys said. You can throw in S-AFC and a really good driver along with an LSD to help transfer power better.

start with the basics, intake, then header, then catback exhaust, and a high flow cat if you want...some people just do intake and exhaust..and they dont get the full potential of either since the flow is getting disrupted or held up in the stock exhaust manifold..and if you decide you want more after the I/H/E...you can do little things and go all motor...pulleys, cams, blah blah..or you can go forced induction..nitrous..supercharger...turbo..but many supporting mods are required for forced induction..but if you've got the green..go for it

Well like everyone has said about mods it can help raise HP 10-25%, but if you mean something like where Supra owners take their cars to 800hp or something then maybe not.

As with any sports type car the fit in back is bad for any normal adult. It is more suited for throwing a backpack, books, or your jacket back there.

Chiptuning the ECU = 165 WHP

Turbo = 265 EHP

a lsd wouldnt really transfer power better..the purpose of a lsd is to deliver equal power to each of the front wheels, its not really necessary unless your running some serious power..same for the s-afc, dont waste your money unless your running a lot of mods, and have an exhaust gas temperature gauge...cuz improperly tuned you'll just end up busting your engine

i forgot to mention..those figures, 8-10hp,, you are referring to crank hp, right? or at least i hope..

Or bore out the block to a larger size, and build up the engine after resleeving the cylinders. More displacement = more power.
