I am just curious if you can put a rim with a width of 8.5 on the celica?

Yes, if it has a low enough offset.

can you know what the offset needs to be?

why in the world would you want an 8.5" wheel?

because I am tubing the rear end for 20's I am having a new upper control arm made and if I can fit an 8.5 on the celica then I don't need to have a new lower control arm made in the rear of the car as well. but if I you can't fit an 8.5 then I will have the lower control arm made so I can fit it. this control arm I am having made will be similar to the hotckins design so this might be a great solution for those of you who want an adjustable camber link but don't want to spend the 400 or more for hotchkins

ok, I'll change my question to "why in the world would you want a 20" wheel?" :ugh:

Ask ProToolsKid, he's got 18x8.5 HRE wheels on his car. My guess is you'd be fine with about a 37 offset. 40 and you'd be pushing it. 35 and you might have to roll the fender lips.

I doubt 37 offset will work with 8.5. You need to go lower offset. Mines +30 with 7.5, and it does look like it will clear with a 8.5 FOR THE REAR. Not sure though....

19x8.5 works, i don't see why 20 x 8.5 won't work in the back, with the proper offset

good luck juiced... make sure to show us some pix of your work
