Picking up a set of Konig Imagines ( Black Opal) next week.
Picked up the set for 1299 out the door.(including tires, mounted balanced tax etc)
I cant find a better price anywhere? The dealer where i got the car is getting them for me.
They are 18x7.5 and i will be running 215 40 18's.
1st...
what do you prefer for a good all around tire with good treadwear?( still have time to change, right now its Falkens)
Falken, Toyo, Nitto, Yoko, Kumho?
Is there really a BAD tire that i should stay away from?
Also, will the car need an allignment?
Thanks

I actually was thinking of getting that same wheel, but I want them in white and I don't think that they are offered in that finish. Anyway, that's a great price I think for 18's, as far as tires I would go w/ Nitto's (my first choice), I had Toyo Proxies before and I liked them, but they are my second choice. I don't think you need an alignment either.

i wouldn't go with 215/40/18 on that wheel.
if you can find 215/35/18, you'll be much closer to original stock diameter (if you have a GT-S with 205/50/16; not sure about GT's). even better would be 225/35/18. that rim is 7.5 wide and can hold a 225 tire. you'd have a wider footprint (which is always a bonus) and you'd be within .5% of stock. now, i don't know if that size is available or not but it'd be worth a look. plus, a bit more rubber not only looks good, but it might help you avoid some of the curbing that happens way too much to aftermarket rims.
good luck.

if you truly want to protect the rims..
then get 225/40/18
i had 215/35/18
hit some nasty potholes and had two big dents..
one on the right outside
and one on the left inside..
they fit..even if its lowered..
so...
up to you
safety?
or lower profile :)

40 series were/are still in consideration and, honestly will probablly be what i go with. The diameter difference/speedo reading will be negligible to me and for this application.
That bring a question to mind....how easy/hard(read expensive) is it to have the speedo re-calibrated to the new diameter?

man just get 215/40/18 for celica, and save money..
225 is good too but may slow you down since celica has only 133 torque?
I'm geting 215/40/18

go w/ the 225/40/r18.. you won't really notice the difference in terms of look. It actually might look better w/ the 40 series.. see my sig below.
