i am new to car audio. i was thinking of replacing the stock speakers on the gts (premium package). i already have a aftermarket head unit with 4 out (i'm bypassing the stock amp).
so options are, component fronts 6.5" + 1" tweeter and 6.5" or 6.75" in the rear, or 6.5" all around or 6.75" all around?
i do NOT intend on installing a sub at all.
what do you guys suggest?

I would go with 6 1/2" components up front for your main sound stage and some nice 6 1/2" coax's for the rear fill. As for brand you'll have to decide what sounds best to you.

infinity kappa's, 6.5 components up front and 6.5 coaxials in the rear. but i noticed the stock speakers have better low freq. response than aftermarkets.

rite. i wasnt asking so much brand specific.. although my choice so far is between boston acoustics Rm6 and infinity kappa.
so if i do front component, i can fit both the tweeter and 6.5" in the stock mounting location? would i need a seperate amp or running it off the head unit is fine (50w ea 4 channels)?
any limitation on the depth?

are you asking if you should get a 6.5 or a 6.75??? they're basically the same, just brands make a little different size.
don't you have the tweeter mount in the door? you put the tweeter there and the 6 in the door. you'll have to either cut up the factory speakers to make a mount, or use mdf. because the mounting holes are too big.
rm6's are coaxials. i'd recommend boston pro's up front, they sound great in my car. rears don't matter. they really really don't.
if you get components, you have to use an amp. don't waste you time buying them if you're going to use the head unit. that 50 watts is like 15 rms. the lower you go on power the less bass response you'll get.

Bostons are a very good choice. So are the Infinity Kappas.
I am going to get the JL Audio XR 653 CS.
