Being introduced as a Regional Only class for 2002 (also allowed at Pro's and Tours)

In a nut shell it's STS with a couple more goodies.
To A Celica you can add
All STS goodies
LSD (not the drug)
Big Brakes

Max tire width = 225
Max wheel width = 7.5"
Tires must have a minimum tread wear rating of 140

note: the TypeR and WRX are allowed in STX with their stock diff's

There's also a thread on celica.net about the STX class. Someone posted that 2.0L turbo/supercharger engines are allowed in STX. Does that mean stock factory turbo/supercharger or does it also allow adding an aftermarket turbo/supercharger to a N/A car?

Stock only.

The more I look at it the more it is clear to me that Subaru and the ScCA are sleeping together.

A class just for the WRX. Remember, 2/3 of the WRX drivers take it home with the 17" wheel option and the shortshifter. That puts them right into SP and makes them losers.

Now, they can have their own class and be winners.

The SCCA get in bed with a sponsor, never happen (cough cough)

Lets see...
Dodge - Neon
Ford - The SpecRacer Ford

Back to STX....
The TypeR also in the class but remember is it really a STS (ok X) car right from the factory. Once the STS goodies are installed the WRX will eat the "R" for lunch. Here is and interesting possibility. How about a fox chassis (84?) 302 Mustang? If it can get over the 225 tire restriction it could be a quick ride.

The mustang crossed my mind, but the lack of sub fame connectors may kill it. On the other hand, I've seen some awfully fast ESp mustangs and they aren't allowed sub frame connectors.

The potential is there, and it wouldn't cost much. Same for the 305 Camaros.

My first thought was an M5 but I see that it is on the exclusion list. Maybe an E30 M3, though it is awfully tweaked from the factory, but there are a lot of parts and a ton of development on it. I think it could be a ringer.

Warning: This is a Regional only class and will be offered at as a supplemental class at National-level events in 2002.

What does this mean? SCCA could pull the plug anytime and leave you in Street Mod (of course then you could add a turbo)

If you make the leap try not to beat any WRX's because IMHO (I'm really not alone) the "X" in STX is for WRX. Got to keep the sponsor happy.

True enough. I'm not too hot on being lumped into SM. I don't see myself doing anything like that till I need a new clutch, anyway. Than I may do the whole deal: Clutch, Flywheel and LSD.

Or I'll move on to a new car.

Them WRXs do drive nice. I wonder how the STi will really be....
