I was driving home in 4th at about 3K RPM. Then all of a sudden I lost power. Had the pedal to the floor and it would not pull. Down shifted to 3rd and it popped check oil light came on. So I pulled over and my CEL came on and the car died. I tried to start it back up and the block was dead, but there was oil underneath the engine. I still had oil in the engine though. So I had it towed to my dealer and they pulled out the spark plug and it was flat not metal. I'm so screwed. My baby is dead. WAH!!! Anybody SOMEBODY give a celi owner some comfort.

Did you drive thru a puddle or something?

And what do you mean the sparkplug was "flat not metal?"

No. It had rained but I was on highway that wasn't crowded at all wasn't behind anybody. Spark plug was smashed down. Spark plug looked like it was hammered down.

It doesn't sound like hyrdolock... You have to pretty much completely submerge your intake to do that, and if you didn't hit a puddle, I have a hard time seeing how that could happen. That sucks what happened to your car though.

man, i just saw that car a week ago. doesn't sound like a hydrolock to me. did the toyota dealership tell u that? how did u come to that conclusion?

I've come to the conclusion its not hydralock. The dealership was quick to say that though. They didn't take the head off to see if was rusted thats what would happen, but anyway. I'm having it brought back to my house tomorrow and reinstall my stock air box, and then haul it off to another dealer in the city. HEHE. Can't afford the nice $6.4K GT engine when I can get that crap free. BS services peepz lazy as hell. Anyway.

Just so you don't get blind sided by the next dealers "psychic powers". If the first dealer entered your visit into the computer all Toyota dealers know about your problem.

I don't think all dealerships are connected. I had a problem w/ the MAF and one dealership wouldn't fix it because of the CAI. I put in the stock box and took it to another dealership w/ no problem. They didn't say anything to me, even w/ the cpu tube taped up.
Hope you get the engine fixed. Toyota tries to get out of any repairs.

my ride back was okay. since i have back problems, it's always a pain to do the five hour drive.

anyhow, i'm glad to hear that you didn't hydrolock it. it didn't sound like it to me. i am not sure if they're all linked up or not. i'm fairly sure they are. but the service varies from dealer to dealer. one dealership could give you hell about the cai while another won't. some dealerships will take one look at your radiator fluid. if it's a different color than what that company uses, they won't fix it. now THAT'S BS.

I am pretty positive they are not linked up. when my first new transmission housing cracked after two weeks of being installed. I had it towed to a different dealer (Cheaper). the dealership tried to charge me 3200 bucks for a new transmission up until I told them I had just had a new one put in!. They had no clue about the new transmission from the other local dealership til I told them. I was told that they only know if you contact toyota of USA, or they do. Cause Toyota of USA keeps a log. And also, the dealership is a state based database, not national. Good luck on your car problems Im sure it will end up getting fixed under warrenty. sounds like it should according to what happened.

Well I had my car towed back to my house so I could gut it's performance mods. Headers, TRDExhaust, and most importantly the CAI. But I've run into another problem. When the guys in Wichita Falls, TX put the car back they took my spark plugs and the lil green cap that has the 1psi evap port thing. So what do I do? about the plugs.. Say I took them out thinking I had bad plugs at first and noticed they were all hammered in? Then the dealer is gonna ask to see them and I'll just go look for them in the car and say ooops I left them at my friend's house. Help me out with some excuses please. The green cap is worrying me what do I do about that?

Oh God.......don't come up with excuses! You're whining and "help me come up with excuses" is disgusting!

As many people have tried to tell you, it wasn't hydrolock, so it probably wasn't your fault.

Quite all this sneaking around and lying and just have them tell you what the hell is wrong with your car!

oNE LAST POLL. Should I take off the headers and exhaust?

Leave the exhaust its TRD so that is covered by warrentee, also I don't think they will notice the headers but it probably woun't hurt to take them off.

I think the dealership has to prove that the CAI was the factor causing the problem. I've heard that from a few people but don't want to chance it myself :)

I hate it when people bring up threads that are so damn old. PM him instead if you want to know that bad.
