mmm surprising story...
I was cruising down good ol "waterloo avenue" here in Belgium and at a certain point I see this silver Merc SL500 (the one wit 4 headlights the recent but not lastest one) coming pretty quickly from behind shining his xenon lights at me. At first I didn't take him seriously cuz he was those retired type wit a nice car... he stuck behind me pretty aggressively even tho i was going like 20mph over the speed limit which bugged me a little bit...
At the red traffic light I stayed in tne fast lane cuz he was being such an asshole but he decided to come next to me on the slow lane... And I would have guessed I would have got my ass whipped if i raced that 300hp V8... I'm the kinda guy that takes off fast, especially that day cuz I was just testing out my new blitz intake wit my S-afc. So ignoring the guy I was planning to enjoy the sound for myself.
green light I take off as usual (meaning the other cars become very small on the back mirrror) and since he was an old guy i never thought he would actually accelerate fast especially wit a CL500. I go off (without any high rpm launches not to disturb the surrounding) and im off on a smooth start, and I goddam realise the guy was like just next to me so instinctively floor it as if i was racing the guy... the the guy infact was not kidding, to my surprise hit 2nd VVT half a car length, by the time i hit third the guy was looking at my HKS exhaust... well at that point I was hitting more than 60mph on a 40mph road so I went back into the slow lane (in front of him) and slowed down hehe...
at the next light I had to turn but he came next to me on the fast lane... and I have to tell you he looked extremely pissed, you could just see it in his face as saying "wtf why does my 80k merc get beaten by a kid on a toyota..."
he had a bad launch? he wasn't really racing? but it sure looked like to me, I don't know... but my friend who was following me to the destination on his car told me he definitely was racing... well dunno those cars are auto and weigh too much, probably wanted to see what my showy black celica wit a TRD wing was like... (quite rare around here) I surely showed him hehehe, well i always knew mercs were slow but...
hey it was a good confidence boost...
