wondering, because this a**hole i work with is asking for it. It looks like a piece of **** but he acts as if he just brought the new rx8 or something. Whats the deal on this race... good kill or......oh no i don't want to think about it.

If it is a SL, you should win as long as you drive the car good.
If it is a VR-4, no chance in hell unless he can't drive the car good.

not sure what he has, but I'll find out. I was just told that maybe its older than a 95, it sure does look like it.

even the SL is no slouch.. but the celica should be able to beat the SL.. as Mike said though, the VR4, you can forget it..

God i miss the VR4. Car could pull 1.8 60ft's and leave other cars in the dust... God i want that back.
The SL isn't a bad performer... Low 15's at around 92-93
VR4 = 13.8-14.0 at 100

3000GTs are heavy. You should have no problem at all beating an SL or Base model. BTW, if the rear spoiler is not like a Supra or GST GSX wing, then its a 96 and below. 97+ look real nice. Now if its a VR-4. Good luck. You prolly wont win :p

I've raced two 3000gt s and won both times. One on the highway 55 to about 110 and I was roughly 2 and half cars in the front by then. One at the light he stayed beside me until third gear then I started to pull and I let up after I was a car. Both were SL s the one at the light had a stick HIghway I don't know. The VR 4 on the other hand you can forget it unless he hits his gate on a shift. A guy that works with me has a 96 and I have been taken for a ride and I want miss with him.

Just a clarifying remark as to why I said the SL is an easy beat, and it already has been eluded to above, but they are heavy ass cars. They pretty much have the same output as my car (But more weight), and a GT-S/GT match up comes down to the driver so....

really.. i thought the SL was capable of a low 15 second pass stock..

there was this nice guy on this board abotu a month ago who has a bolt on SL who ran consistent 14.4s
tht's probably good enough to beat lots of GT-Ss
hehe
not sure if he's the average SL or a freak :)
