when toyota made our 7th gens with the hoodscoop, they knew it would basically serve no purpose except to cool the engine SLIGHTYLY... why couldnt they have given it some purpose like the people over at subaru did the with the wrx.
i love my car to death, but this is just another that i would have gotten instead.

i hope its obvious what im talking about here. the air induction system is far far superior, using the hoodscoop to its advantage.

That's not the air induction system on the top of the engine. That's the intercooler for the turbo.

it doesnt induce anything... what's the advantage of having the intercooler under your hood like that... kinda retarded if you ask me... but then again who am i to question the wisdom of the great folk at 7 star motors.

I agree that if the hood scoop was utilized for an acctual INTAKE, like the Ferrari 550...that would be tight...but the WRX, as GTS808 mentioned, only has the intercooler utilizing the functionalty of the hood scoop.

hmm.. i apologize for my ignorance.. but i misinterpretted that picture along with this information.
"The intercooler (air to air) on the WRX uses cold air from the bonnet scoop passing through the fins to cool the hot inlet air that is passing through the other (inside part) of the intercooler. The inlet air gives off heat to the cooling air."

Me I like hood scoop intercoolers <Grins>

That having been said I do intend to install either an FMIC or a water to air intercooler on my Alltrac eventually :)

but yea.. its always a plus to have a hood scoop that serves purpose. i guess u can say it does for the celica for "cooling the engine bay" :shrugs: heh

as far as the top mount intercooler.. yea i would assume the hood scoop on the wrx helps cool air even more.. but wouldnt an fmic be even better.. its just out there and even more cold air is passing through helping it cool air. ?

The engine since it is a flat design like old VW bugs is a good design for air cooling. I mean, the old bugs didn't even have water cooling for their engines. But I don't know about putting an intercooler just at the hood scoop. I would think the front of the car would serve a better purpose than a small opening on the hood??!?!!??!
