Howdy. When I shift - especially from 1st to 2nd, the shift housing squeaks...it's a bit obnoxious. I am about due for the 30,000 mile service....but is this something I can fix mineself?
I imagine it is rather simple.

Thanks!

Does the squeak come from the inside of the car or the engine bay? If it's from the inside, try lubricating the shift lever's pivot ball and the shifter cables with white lithium grease spray.

If it's coming from the engine bay, look behind the airbox and underneath the large intake hose. There will be a few large pieces of gold colored metal that move in different positions when you move the shifter. Move the shifter through each gear, spraying the gold part with white lithium grease for each gear.
