after a while, they just start sounding the same.. all cars with variable valve timing of some sort.. its like .. waaa waaa waaa waaa.. then you hit the crossover than its.. BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..

now describing the sound of turbo, its orgasmic, you hear the turbo spool.. especially at night.. sounds like..

civic Si VTEC (99-00) and RSX Type S u can hear VTEC a lot. the civic's soudns very metallic

if you unbolt your exhaust it sounds like a bike but meaner.
the two sounds under 6k and above are completly different.

Ok.. for those of you that havent driven a car with vtec...

Vtec crosses over way to smooth... I can hear mine since its at 4400.. then 5750 is when the secondary butteryflies open.(when most people think vtec actually hits..) So i hear it get louder at 4400 then even louder at 5750 but its much smoother.

but i'd say its just as loud as vvtl-i.. Just the change over is waaayyyy better then the gsr.

Oh yea my gsr has 148,xxx miles so its getting there.

ive driven a couple of GT-S 6spd with intake, and its so much fun because of that kick. And it sounds much better IMO.

you can hear the switch on DOHC vtecs better than SOHC. the first time i drove my friend's si, i was trippin cause i've never heard anything like that; he had an intake and exh. then i noticed it a lot more on the gsr and type r. but...the sounds from the gt-s can't be faded!!! i have yet to hear the new integ type s though...

Its depends on the car you are driving.

SOHC VTEC engines:
Accord EX-V6
TL-S/CL-S
Civic Si,EX etc, you don't hear the cross over. Its like VVT-i I guess.

in DOHC VTEC engines your hear VTEC kick very noticably.

Its cause the SOHC VTEC system only opperates on the intake cam. In DOHC VTEC engines, it operates on both the intake and exhaust cams. And its the change in exhaust note that you hear.
