hopefully someone can help me....trying to find out if a 17x8.5 wheel with a 35 or 39mm backspacing will fit on my 200 gts. plus does anyone know if i'll have problems with a 245/40-17 tire...i'll have them in the shop this week so if nobody knows i'll post if they fit...

I don't think neone's used that wide of a tire yet. I have a 17x8 with a 35 mm offset. The Fife has a 17x8 with I believe 37-39 mm offset i'm not exactly sure though. It fits fine but it is pretty close to the front struts spring perch. the fife has Tien coilovers so I don't think that's an issue with him.
if your going to get that wide of a wheel/tire, get the 35mm offset, I would say try to get a 30 - 32 mm or something, although that might make your wheels stick out and look a lil funny
your gearing is going to be really off, why such a wide wheel/tire? I think a 17x8 may be a little too wide

245/40/17 will not work right. It's way too tall. I have 235/40/17 P Zero's and it's a tight fit. If you have any questions, mail me at denis@racetechnologies.com

hey thanks for the input...my bad on the wheel its a 7.5 but kindof wanted the wide tire dunno why other than think with the body kit and all the car needs a wider tire...good thing is as a dealer if its too far out of wack i can send them back...makes me nervous now though...
once again thanks for the input and help....i own one of three in my area-the only one thats modified and will be turning to you all for help-this is my first import/lowered vehicle.

The widest you can go with out rubbing would be 235. Unless you had the wheels sticking out the side.
