need opinions on component sets

here are the component sets that i'm looking at:

jl audio xr650-cs
jl audio vr650-cs
kicker resolution rs6
alpine type-r spr-176a

do you guys and girls have any recommendations? should i definitely avoid any of these?

i have boston acoustic fx6's that i'm going to use for my 6 and a half's in the back. i'll be running an amp to the components and the bostons (unless this is not a smart thing to do). i also have a jl audio w0 12" sub in the back with an amp.

I don't know anything about the choices you have listed, but I love Infinity, get the Kappa's

well since no one else is answering...

have you listened to all of these?

because i think if you have you should be able to decide. don't buy based on opinions. get someone to go w/ you and put in a good cd, and have them switch while your eyes are closed. you'll start hearing the differences.

i think the alpines suck, they are not good quality speakers. their head units are great though.

as for kicker, i've never heard their components but i donno, they were like big into subs a few years ago, and they're kinda no good at that either anymore. their solobarics are cool but i don't think that would say anything about how well they could make components.

i really liked the jl's. they, to me, blew away the mb quarts (definately) since the midbass was much clearer, and the tweeters were silk dome, and weren't so harsh. i even think they sounded better than my own speakers, boston pro's, although they were VERY close. i have the 3ways though, which the bostons sounded a little better with those to me, but both were amazing.

tonight i bought the xr650-cs components and a jl 300/4 amp to power the components up front and my bostons in the back. i can't believe how loud and clear the xr's were in the store. if they sound anything like that in my car, i will be drivin' around with wood for the next couple weeks. unfortunately, i have to wait til thursday for the install. :(

when i was shopping for components, i heard all 4 that you mentioned

jl's - one of them (i think the lower line) was really harsh, the other was okay
Kicker RS6 - oh please, stay away from these, the ones i looked at (2001 edition) are known to have the WORST crossovers, for $300 a pop, youd think theyd use better crossovers (look at the specs)
alpines - if these are the blue ones, they're okay, there were the cheapest, but they sounded the best to me, overall power handling was only 40 wrms though

personally, i couldnt pass up a deal on some crystal components, in fact, i loved them so much, i bought 2 (one for me and one for my girl). the one for my girl is on sale in the FS forum
