I am considering purchasing a Celica GT. Could anyone tell of if they have ever towed a small utility trailer with their Celica?

I race go-karts and I need something that will tow my kart to the track. The total weight of the kart and trailer is under 600 lbs.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

I have never personally done it but many autocrossers pull the same type of trailer two and from events. The cars is rated to tow 1000 pounds.

The only problem I have ever heard is with the wing it's very hard to see the trailer back there.

TRD StreetRacing, I would only be towing a short distance. Probably 4 miles at the most, once a week.

As far as pounds, It wouldn't be that much more than having 4 people ride in the car. I mean 4 people weighing 200 lbs would be 800lbs. I just wanted to know if anyone had done this before.

It's either a Celica or Tacoma, but the Tacoma is a little more than I can afford.

Not a problem at all. I tow a small trailer behind my GTS all of the time with no problems, many of us autocrossers do. I've seen a 4x8 trailer behind a GTS loaded with 4 sets of tires and some gear.

At 35 pounds per wheel and tire that adds up quick (35x16 = 560 pounds). It wasn't a problem. Launching on hills is a little trickier that all.

Since all of this was with a GTS, the GT should do it even better becaue of its better low end torque.

Actually, according to the manual, it's rated for 2000 lbs. I remember reading that, and thinking it was a bit too high. I think you would be okay, but I would pay particular attention to the tongue weight. Too much, and your rear may sag, and cause stress on the suspension, and too little, the trailer could sway and cause control problems.
