i've always been spectator at the track here in orlando (bithlo). but yesterday i actually got the nerve to race my girl out there. keeping in mind that i have an auto gt with just an intake i was concerned that i would end up running 19s or 20s. let's just say i didn't get that. which is good. my first run was 18.7 and my by my third i got 18.4. at mid 70s mph. i started to adjust to my car instead of just going. i am not truly proud of my time but i am happy that by my third run i had improved 3/10ths of a second.

it was real exciting and everyone was helpful. i'll be getting my exhaust today and the next time i take her out there will be in Jan/Feb to see what improvement it did. happy lady. :D

yeah you still have room to improve a bit, but that varies on weather/track...congrats. first time at track is usually scary. my car's slow as hell too. i stopped caring. i just wanna have some fun now :)

BTW, some tips for auto GT: powerbrake to 2000rpm on launches...and use the L->2->D for shifting. practice that. when you powerbrake, don't hold it for more than a few seconds, and don't hold it revving at 2000 or over. holding it at around 1500-1800 is ok for a few seconds until you get the signal to go then bring it up and dumb the brake. also try increasing tire pressure in all your tires.

funny, i saw people let air out on the tires. i was revving up slight under 2000 at the line and letting her rip at the start. as she sped up through the rpms to 6000 and saw her drop down when shifting gears, i pumped the gas to keep her up. i had heard on the auto that shifting between the L, 2 didn't make a difference but hurt your engine. i dunno. i haven't done it. but i'll take her out to a parking lot or something. thanx for the tip and encouragement fellas :D

that's cuz they have problems getting the tires to stop spinning...you WANT them to spin...or at least try to :)

i brought up your remark to a friend with the rsx and he said that's what works for him. i guess it depends on the ride.

well more or less on how you launch then the car...6-speeds need to lower tire pressure on their drive wheels too. that's cuz they want less wheelspin. if you're launching at 2000rpm on a torqueless automatic...wheelspin and less rolling resistance would be nice.
