K, anyone wanna talk about these motors?

I'll be honest, I've had the celica for 'bout4 mos. I haven't read too much on it, it's primarily my wife's car, but I think it's got potential.

I know there's not much aftermarket yet, but that's pickin' up pace...

I also know I'm no rocket scientist(but I play one sometimes). So anyway.

What's the strengths and weaknesses of our cars? I know it handles great. And the power seems pretty smooth. I'd like more power. It seems to have a pretty high compression rate. Anyone wanna elaborate as to why, or how that really benefits?

For comparison, I've learned alot about my 1.8t vw. I'm pretty pleased with its performance, and I want to get that celica up a bit to keep pace.

Look, I'm not claimin' anything, just lookin' for some helpful suggestins and ideas. I've been reading the site a bit, but haven't really read hardcore. I'll be increasing my traffic here though.

Helpful websites are a major plus at this point. Aftermarket shops are a major plus as well. I like to learn, I want to see pics of everything, read how to's on anything, and basically I just want some direction. Anyone?

Uhhhhh....just read the boards.

It's a GT I assume from your post subject.

There's a turbo coming soon from West Covina Toyota. I've got Crower and Skunk2 researching cams and an intake manifold. There's exhausts, intakes, a power pulley, header and some appearance increasers.

Good luck.

Yea, I've been reading the Turbo thread, will keep up on it. Seems to give a nice punch. :) Honestly, I like the smooth pull of the celica, and I think I'm going to look at Super Chargers. I'm also thinkin' about autocrossing it, and think the lowend ppower would be nice. (I know modding an autocrosser is asking to be kicked around rank wise, I don't care, I'm not competing against them, just me)

The cams sound like they could be a good thing, but I'm not sure. I thought cams usually made small changes, and would possibly cause problems with later mods (like a turbo or supercharger).

The intake manifold sounds promising, I haven't seen anything yet that actually uses that big hole in the hood we get. All the CAI's I've seen are RIGHT there next to the motor? what gives here?

Honestly, unless I'm missing something, I'm not gonna touch the exhaust for a while, looks like 2.5" to me, haven't seen it on a lift, maybe that's just the rear, but seems aiight for a while.

Any more info on the header? I'll search on it, but does anyone have any input on it?

As for the appearence enhancements, I dig those blue guages someone on here did.

Anyway, thanks Drag'nGT. I've seen you've been doin' alot on here to help the scene, thanks :)

1st off, welcome to the board!

We here at NC.Org pride ourselves on the growing enthusiast community. I'm possitive you'll be able to find most of the information available on the Celica here...

Keep up on the Technical information forum, as well as the Mods/Performance forums for the best information.

For detailed header info goto www.Mbautosport.com and goto the Mb projects at the botton of the page. I did the prototype for the header and the dyno's have been back by other GT owners on this board. Its the best mod out there for the GT in HP right now, the increses are in 7-8 WHP range. My AEM intake and and the header made 133.8 Hp to the wheels. The base line with the AEM intake was 126.2. The dyno's are included on this info page. Hope this helps.

Get a header and an AEM pulley. They seem to do the best on the dyno. I'd recommend a CAI as well.
