hi everybody!

I've heard that toyota made some changes on the tranny and on the cut off ont the GTS 2002.

I would like to know what is exactly theses changes and, the more important, will theses chances make the GTS 2002 faster or slower than the previous model (2000 and 2001)

thank you :)

they widened the 1,2 - 3,4 in the gearbox b/c of the misshift problems..

exactly..the gearbox itself is spread out more now than it was before and they changed the rev limiter to 7700 instead of 8300..

to the best of our knowledge this is all they hve changed as the gearing appears to be the same though countless people have said it is easier to keep the 02 Celica on the 2nd cam easier but it doesnt make sense.. essentially if they only made these two changes it would make the car slower..

If they've changed the rev limiter 7700 why in hell does the Matrix have a 8100 redline not rev limit when it is the sameengine?

i have a 2002 still breaking it in but i tried it once and shifted right before the revlimiter and landed about 6200 rpm however the shift to third landed at about 5700 stayed in lift though

well 2nd-3rd, 3rd-4th, 4th-5th, 5th-6th is easy to land above 6000.. its the 1st-2nd shift thats hard..

have you seen the matrix shifter? i'm assuming it must be hard as hell to misshift or something cuz it's positioned so weird so they can be liberal with the redline...

...and the '02 tranny does make it easier to shift 1->2..i dunno why. anyone know if they changed the synchros at all?
