View Full Version : I hold the record for the worst luck with a Celica

For those that haven't been keeping up with the boards, I've been having a lot of problems with my car not because of Toyota but people's mistakes including myself. Here's a run down:

Incident #1: a boy was playing football when he ran into the Celica. Rear bumper, spoiler and back glass was replace by the insurance company. I was inside the house getting ready to take a nap before work when this happened. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid28/pc68cddc33b41a8045a43a5c233fa7dc7/fd652751.jpg

Incident #2: a F150 backed into the front end near the Toyota sign. I was in the library studying when this happened. The guy came and told me so I wasn't mad. His insurance paid me for the damages.

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid31/pab03f6133acdb0fdbb1829fd02af02f5/fd471a14.jpg

Incident #3: I was trying to merge into traffic when I woman sideswipes me. I was signaling to get in but guess she didn't want me in that lane. It's my fault b/c you're supposed to yield. Her car suffered no damages besides a little dirt here and here which I licked off as we were looking at the car.:headbang: She was driving a rental Corolla cause her Avalon was in the shop. My car had what looks to be two door dings near the fuel door and a little ripple near the door handle. She wanted to file a police report anyways cause she said "I just want this on record."

Incident #4: this happened right after class Fri.. There's a four lane road, and I'm making a left hand turn. I watch to make sure everything was clear ,jamming to Eminem, pulled out and hit a Cavalier on the rear passenger side wheel. It was bent inward like it had a lot of negative camber and the panel next to it was dented. My front end cracked in two, the underbody plastics got ripped up and my hood is slightly pushed in. As I was in the car, I was thinking this did not just happen. I felt so bad I couldn't even tell you. I was so depressed thinking, what a bad driver I was. It's a good thing I got some of you guys to talk to like Chiggy, Daks, and Twincelicagirl. At work, there's a really cool nurse that I talked to and she made everything feel good again. I'm so fortunate to have such great people around.

I've found a body shop in Memphis that some of the locals recommended. When I was at the shop, they had a old Camaro that looks like it's in the same era as the Charger in the FnF. They were restoring it. I talked to the owner and he was very knowledgeable. I told him I had a Kaminari bumper and he knew right about what Kaminari was.

I'm know you guys think I'm the worst driver ever, but I've been driving since I was 16 ( I'm 20 now) and never got into any accidents. I've had the Celica for 2.5 yrs w/o a problem except for the occasional ticket. When it rains, it pours right?

I called the lady from the third incident yesterday. She has returned the Corolla and is in her Avalon. Get this, she said she's having headaches.

She: "lawyers have been calling and I haven't seen a doctor yet."
Me: "are you having migraines?"
She:" what's a migraine"

We talk for few more minutes and I'm like "well hope you get well soon, I'm going back to study for my test now, you've got my number right?" She like yeah. I said,"well just give me a call if anything goes wrong, bye." She sounded shocked that I didn't care and just blew her off.

Anyone with common sense can see she's lying to get money. First she doesn't know what a migraine headache is and secondly when we had the accident she was dress in a heaving jacket like the ones that the Fedex employees wear when they work in the "hub." The "hub" is the place where people unload the trucks, it gets hot as crap in the summer and cold as h*ll in the winter. These signs suggest that's she's not an educated woman. Well she was in the rental Corolla which didn't have a dent. Anyone that has rented a car before knows they check the cars before you turn it back in. It got turned in without a hitch. So she's having headaches but the impact wasn't even enough to dent the metal on a '01 Corolla? Not possible, unless she's having stress two weeks after the accident. We all know new cars will dent if you push it even with a fist.

Here's my car in it's present state:

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid37/pa1d8c742fe463569fb12866e0c962f84/fd16705c.jpg

In two weeks, I'm bringing it to the bodyshop to get my everything painted including my skirts and TRD rear valence. She's been just like new soon.

Sounds like my dad's truck. Been in the shop 53 times since 2000. The final kick in the ass? He goes to open the hood and the latch is broken, :rolf:

Myself, I've got a nice scratch on my rear bumper from some idiot, so I guess that's an excuse to get an AM bumper and the rest of an AM kit as well ;)

sorry to hear about it bro. I know how you feel. did the cop ask if she was hurt? don't assume stuff can't happen, because nowadays people look for a quick buck. Your best bet would be just to not get in any debates w/ her about what happened, etc. As for the other guy you hit, accidents do happen. That's what insurance is for and in the end this will be a small bump in the road. Even when things seem horrible, theres always worse stuff happening that's not even fathomable. Anyway, feel better and it'll all blow over soon.

[teacher mode]Dude always remember..
-look clearly before merging, KNOW you can merge
-if you have to make a turn, don't break the flow of traffic, this means that if a car has to slow down significantly for you to turn than you're cutting it too close, wait for a more open chance
-always look when turning, doesn't matter if you think it's clear, looking is better than getting into an accident
-when driving remember to observe everything around you, don't limit your sights to just the road, observe road signs, pedestrians, buildings, etc... try to keep your eyes busy but at the same time on the road. [/teacher mode]

These are the basic rules I follow to stay accident free.

EDIT: You should also follow the the law, stop 2 seconds at every stop sign, look before turning for pedestrians, don't run red lights etc. etc. :chuckles:

Got hit by a lady trying to out run me into a spot... replaced rear bumper again...

Crow perched itself on my APR wing and scratched the hell out of it and had to repaint...

Got keyed twice...

Alarm failed in my car and the car wouldnt start twice (fixed under warranty)

Speedo dosent work (Thanks David D for fixing)

and finally... a jerk off in a Tahoe opened his door into me while i was going 40mph and ripped my front apart...

i feel for ya man...here's a run down on my gt-s

1) two weeks old and my bro put a cigarette burn hole into my back leather seats. $1800 to replace leather cover. but i only spent $50 of it to fill it in. so i pocketed $1750. :D

2) my car got broken into and my $2500 car system got jacked. replaced under insurance.

3) my factory alarm was malfunctioning. fixed under warranty.

4) my windshied cracked because of rock chip. then it cracked all the way across. fixed under insurance.

5) somehow i've got 20 million dings in both of my doors.

6) both of my headlights had to be replaced due to condensation. under warranty.

7) my clutch goes out on me and i end up blowing my motor due to high revs. fixed under warranty.

8) backed into a horse stand and put a big scratch on my tail light. painted lights all red now.

8 1/2) no speedo or tach because of my stupidity. waiting to be replaced under extended warranty.

9)my son puts a 4 inch scratch on my right rear 1/4 panel.

10) my bro side swiped my rear left 1/4 panel with his minivan. 2k to fix. his insurance.

11) my dad smashes into my front end. my left fender, bumper, and numerous bumper assemblies has to be replaced. about 2.5k to fix under his insurance.

8, 9, 10, 11 are in the shop right now and is in the process of being repaired. its been over a month already too.

12) syncros will need to be replaced shortly once my car is fixed.

last but not least...water got into my intake when my dad smashed into my car( because intake was exposed) and now i'll have to wait for my car to be fixed and then take it into the service department to see if my engine will operate properly. if not then that will be issue #13.

i think my Celica was cursed since the day i got it! my dad even told me to get a new car because he thinks my Celica is jinxed! so i'll be looking for a new car in 2004. hopefully i'll get the new celica or supra this time around.

Wow futureceli, you made me feel better now. For a while there, I was thinking of selling the Celica and getting an '00 Maxima. But after hearing the 2ZZ rev up, I realize I love this car too much. It's my first car which I also paid cash for.
