It was quite a drive home from my Dad's girlfriend's Mom's apartment (that's a mouthful). I was driving around, minding my own business when I see these squarish headlights up my ass. I'm thinking, "aw ****.. here comes trouble." He's behind me for a while, lo and behold we get a perfect red light, 3 lanes wide. I rather intentionally zip to the next lane over so he will slide right next to me.
I turn my stereo down to see if he wants to goad me into some action. Hm, no revs.. no honks. Oh well. At this juncture I'm still not sure what car it is. I always feel awkward in these situations and I don't feel comfortable looking over to check him out. I gave a quick glance and noticed it was a younger guy around my age by himself. Red car... what is it? Hm I duno yet.
The light turns green and sure enough he jumps off the line real fast... I don't think he launched... no tire squeeling but he was flooring it after he got traction. I see that it's a 2nd gen RX-7 much like the one my friend had in college.. except his was blue. I didn't launch at all, but I gave some chase and caught up to him. I don't really like launching or tearing up my nice Paradas on my 17s. Can't get d1ck for traction anyway with such a short sidewall. The funny thing is, around the corner there is a cop that has already pulled a cavalier over.. so I laughed to myself a bit.
We hit another red light, and just for his amusement I rev'd at him in neutral while rolling toward a stop.. then rev matched into 1st gear and accelerated hard off the line (no squeeling of course) even with the cop only a few dozen yards away. He later drove by me doing the same thing vroom vroom while rolling to a stop.
I just installed a front strut bar that day so I was hoping he would follow me off to an on-ramp and I'd try to smoke him in a corner. Unfortunately, he didn't give chase so that was that.
Though I later pulled into a shopping center... I pulled back onto the highway and I'm right behind a 1G DSM with MaD tYtE angled exhaust. I threw on my riceroni red neons and I noticed he threw on his hazards. I'm like .. what tah fuk. Peepo fukin with me. I get up on his ass and follow him.
We do a few brief sprints down the highway and it seems I am hanging pretty close with him... maybe with him oh so slightly pulling on me... but really a very tight race. We let off after going up to about 105 mph, I roll by him to let him know I was a GT.. not a GT-S. I wonder what he was thinking at that point... if he was surprised.. or even knows the difference. Anyways!
We had a few more sprints down the highway. I played my favorite game where I sit about 5-10 yards ahead of him and keep hitting the gas to see if he can walk me. It seemed he couldn't pass me going from 65 to 90.
Then we were sitting around 65 and I tried the same thing again. He was behind me.. he changed lanes and he blew by me! I had it floored too! I heard a pretty sweet WAWOOSHH sound from his engine. I rolled by him.. dropped my window and gave him a thumbs up and he honked at me.
Pretty cool guy it seems, but he liked using his hazards a little too much if you ask me... even in the earlier races when he wasn't walking me. I wonder if it was a turbo or nitrous? Or just plain NA? I don't know too much about DSMs.
While on the topic, wtf does DSM stand for? Lol
