Is the mileage on the odometer stored in the gauges themselves or in the ECU or what? Since it's digital my assumption is that it isn't stored in the cluster. Does anyone know? I mean, for example, if I put my cluster (which shows 34.5k miles) into another 2000 with 25k on the clock... what would the mileage show?

so can we(as a consumer) somehow find a way to reset it?? I heard people with older cars can unplug the GC too, can we do that to ours?? (just for the people that want to do this, because I am proud of the miles I put in!!)

Ok lemme clear something up real fast. I had absolutely NO intention of tampering with the mileage on my car and that was not the purpose of this post. I actually was considering buying a backup cluster off of a wrecked celica for cheap in case I totally screwed mine up with experimentation. I was hoping it wasn't stored in the cluster.. damn.

your miles are stored on your ECU but visible on you guage cluster. one thing for people that want to pull the plug on there miles is with vtec, my friends type R when umm... we did it to his car the car didnt pull anywhere close to how it pulled before we did it so he basicly lost vtec. i dont know if its the same for vvtli. but trust me i know this for a fact it dose something with your ecu where as it dosent know when to switch to the higher cams and *hit
