Ok i did allot of racing yesterday...so sue me :) Actually i do allot of racing all the time but i usually dont post my stories but i noticed not 2 much activity here lately so i thought i would share. I also had a video camera with me at all times but most of my races i am solo so i cant tape it...anyways...
I was on my way home from the mall and a golf gti i think...well it was an OLDER golf and was not the newest model. The frame was a little more square compared to the newest model now out. I had raced 1 of these before in my old mazda MX3 and i got my ass kicked so bad that the other guy was laughing so i had an idea of what i was facing. I knew it was an older model so i also figured that would be in my favor. I roll down my windows and put in this Fast ass techno song i got to get my blood pumpin. I look over and he also hadstandard mods that i could see. Lowered on 17's with exhaust...etc..i hear him revving hsi engine and i look at him and he was completely in the zone. Im like....ok....HE'S MINE!!!...i put the car in first gear and my songs kiks in....I decided to trry a good launch as i KNEW he wanted to race. I take the rpms upto 3500 and keep it there. The liht seemed to take forever to change and im stearing at it. The liht turns green and BOOM!...i slip the cluth....however i slipped it a little 2 much and i start to get wheel spin......damn it!..but thats ok...u know why? cause he did also so i didn't lose ground. I take it upto red line in first.....then 2nd...i look over and he is RIGHT there with me...i mean its like we were still sitting at the light thats how close we were. Im like DAMN IT...i need more power.....i take it almost to fuel cut off in 3rd and he had shifted to 3rd a little bit before me. On a street race shifting makes such a difference as that gave me a small lead.
Im running through the rpm's in 3rd gear and hoping to pull on him more but i did not. I shift into 4th just before fuel cut off again and my lead is maybe 2 feet?...maybe less...We both shut down at around 100 and it appeared the cars were just about equal and the only thing that even gave me the 2 feet was the diffrences in driving skills. we pulled upto the next light and chatted for a few secs and complimented each other on the driving and i gave him a thumb's up! that was the closest racec i have ever had and it was great. I have lost races before but i have never been so close to losing without actually losing....thats the kinda racee that makes u spend more and more money on upgrades....hehe
