Strong T-Storm here this evening while i am on the highway back home.. water was like half rim high and my car was dead just right on the street before i turned into my apartment parking... now it can't be started and 'check engine' light is on.. should i just place it out there for a couple days and let it dry up itself or should i do something ?
actuallly my car also got hit by ice of the freezing rain, and the rubber edge of the window got torn off... hopefully my warrently will cover it.. :O(

do you have a cold air intake? if the water was half rim high most likely u hydrolocked. and if your car won't start u defin. hydrolocked and ur pretty much screwed. take it to the dealer and see what they say...and make sure u take off ur intake and put stock on back on

I don't know if taking off the CAI is going to help at all. They might just laugh in his face for driving in rain like that in the first place. Cars aren't meant to be driven through floods.

take it to a mechanic and tell him what happened and he'll see if it's saveable or not. cheaper than a dealer (which WILL charge you)

Take the intake off and go to toyota if your still under warranty. it should be honored

pull out your plugs and and change the oil. Then crank the engine over a few time and see if any water comes out of the spark plug hole, if not, see if itll start

might as well flush the tranny too. and buy new spark plugs from your dealer's parts department, those should have rusted by now. remove the entire intake up to the throttle body and clean it out to get rid of the water.

when you're cranking it to flush out the water, might wanna try spraying some carb cleaner down into there (a little) and then cranking again until everything's out.

reset the ECU to get rid of the CEL, then after you got new oil/trannyfluid, and new plugs in, crank it up and see if it'll start, let it idle for a while (there should be a ton of crap coming out of the exhaust).

after it's fully warmed up, try revving it to over 3000rpm and see if it starts misfiring (hissing noises at odd intervals and probably another CEL).

if the car doesn't start at all, you're screwed. put stock intake on and take it to toyota, but they probably won't cover it under warranty. then see what your insurance can do about it.

Hmmm....I disagree, if you suck water up your CAI and hydrolock that is on you. Toyota should not be held responsible in any way.
What you meant to say was 'Set you car back to stock and go lie to your dealer about the situation.'
It is this sort of thing that makes it all the more difficult to place a legitimate warantee claim, remember, what goes around.......be a man, admit your mistake and do the right thing.
