since nobody in the repair/maintenance forum can come up with anything :(

i gotta get the 30k mile service soon, and i have an Injen CAI on there. should i remove it? i could just tell them to forget trying to change the air filter, but on the flyer i see they do an efi throttle body service...i don't want to find out if they can figure out how to take off the intake and put it back on to get to the throttle body. is that really important?

the entire thing comes out to $389.50 that's NOT including differential service, throttle body service, or repacking rear wheel bearings or even tax! i think that's gonna come out to $500+, and there's no way i can afford that.

i was gonna tell them to knock off the oil change, and possibly the transmission flush too, but it says they replace the ATF and the gasket. what gasket are they talking about? is that just the little rubber thing underneath the plug/bolt in the pan? or is there a gasket for the entire pan (which i dunno where to get or how to install). otherwise i'd do it myself later when i got the chance/money.

also, i'm not sure if they include a pressure flush to clean the fuel injectors with this service. what do you think, worth it? or just use fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank. not that i can afford it anyway :)

I've been doing my own 30K service on the 6spd... as far as removing the cold air filter.. if you know how to do it easily (like less than 20 mins) then go ahead and do it. It saves you any potential hassles if they find a problem (the 30K service is lots of looking over things)... as for the other stuff i'm not sure if the gasket is the case gasket or the bolt gasket.. my guess is its the second one since replacing the case gasket would be a lot more money.

the pressure flush thing is a scam to get your money.. just run the injector cleaner stuff or if you really want get the redline injector cleaner which has a bit higher percentage of that particular alcohol than the STP one. either one would work fine.

I'm pretty sure there is no 'Bolt' Gasket on the Celica, or any car for that matter, I'm not even sure if there is an 'O' Ring on it. If they are replacing a gasket to do with your oil change, it would likely be the oil pan gasket, which shouldn't need to be replaced and will cost quite a bit...tell them to stuff it. Toyota service sucks my ass. I do all my own work...
