GTS resale value?

if only 5% of all Celicas are 6spd GTS'.. then why is the resale value so low, and why are people having such a hard time selling tehir cars?

seems to me that if theyare so rare that the value should stay up there.. whats wrong?

I'd be cautious buying a used GTS with all the problems they have, mainly misshifting. Who's to say the used one you buy hasn't been misshifted and had the motor rebuilt.

I bought my GT-S used this past July...it's a '00...is there any way to find out if it's been misshifted? I know that it doesn't have the wider shift gates...is this enough evidence to indicate that it hasn't had a new short block or something installed? Because, it seems that if anyone misshifts, the revised shift gates are installed too...

well if you can shift at 8250, 8300 than it should be the original engine. But then, when did they start doing the wider shift gates when people misshifted? cuz the 00 and 01(before 4/01) didnt so i'm guessing that if they shifted pre-02.. then the rebuilt engine should be with the 00 or 01 specs, right?

Would a miss-shift rebuild be in a Carfax report? I've never used the service, so I don't know what exactly it finds.

I guess if only 5% of Celicas are 6spd GT-S's, then that is why the resale value isn't good, because no-one wanted one in the first place. Too bad for them.

If you read the paper and know anything about the economy, the whole car market is for crap. The market is flooded pretty much with all cars.

Contrary to popular belief, the GTS manuals are not as rare as you may think, and the percentages of blow ups or misshifts are not as great as you think.

There are 5 manual GTSs(that I know for sure) in this small town alone and not one blown motor or complaint!

Pretty amazing? Not at all.

BTW, I'd expect $18k private party, $16k trade-in for a 6spd loaded GT-S with under 20k miles. Also, because I know about the '02 limiter I'd pay $0 for that one :(

I hope that in a year or a year and a half, mine will be worth some decent money. I am going to pay a huge chunk of it off, but overall, I am not too impressed with the car overall. I wish I would have kept my 01 Grand Am GT or looked further into an Eclipse GTS, but its too late now. I am putting a system into it next week because the stock system is not that great. If it would take leaving the system in the car to sell it for more $$$, then i would do it. later

Contrary to what you may think they only make up 5% of 7th gen celicas :) This is straight from toyota sales

My GTS is awesome, manual...its been good and no problems whatsoever...I just hate how they screwed me over with the rev limiter...damn you Toyota

I am confused. I am not sure what you want out of a car. If it is the stereo that you are unhappy with, OMG!

Why don't you figure 5% out of the total! Lets say 60,000 was sold in 01, Ummm, thats like 3000.
