hehe some of the Hawaii peeps just told me about these. CHAR-G Bit-Racers! They're little remote controlled cars about an 1.5" long, with customized engines, wheels, tires, and bodies. Some even have suspension options! Even better, there's a Celica!!

http://www.tomy.co.jp/bit_charg/index.htm

I picked up a couple today from a store here, with the 2.2 motor. It's pretty damned fast! Only had Skyline GT-Rs tho, but I'm gonna switch it to a Celica body as soon as I can find one. :) They also have Hachis with "drift suspensions".

Dunno if you guys have talked about these before, but thought I'd post just in case. :)

They are pretty tough to come by here right now because of Christmas I guess. But If you want to order them here is a link to a website. They use the current Yen rate so they are pretty cheap right now. http://www.hlj.com/cgi-local/manmenu2.cgi?manufacture=TOM

enjoy.

If you're gonna be here tomorrow, you MIGHT get lucky and find one at Pearlridge Shopping Center, the phase with Macy's, at a store called, "The Fast and Furious" - lame knockoff store, I know. They sell a lot of stuff in there, mostly crap products at a very high price. A few JDM pieces, also at premium. They happened to have about 5-6 Skylines left with the 2.2 motor (22000 rpm) and medium tires at $45 each. Otherwise, I saw a couple RX7s at a store called "Toys N Joys" nearby across the street. I think they had only the 1.0 motor tho, and also $45. If you're here long enough, another store called "Shirokiya" at Ala Moana Center will be stocking them in a month or so. Same story with Toys N Joys. I know Shirokiya does have bodies and engine upgrades still available, but no full kits left. They had a few of the Hachi drift setups recently but I missed out. :(

Come check out the Hawaii forum when you get into town, we'll try and hook up with ya. :) Better hurry dude, these things are flying out the door like hotcakes! I looked all over the island for 'em.

Very cool too! I spent the afternoon tearin' mine around the office, if you time it right you can drift the car right around ppl's chair and table legs. :) Gonna try to get some softer tires and maybe a different gearing setup when I get a chance.

I'm sure they do, but they're really hard to find here, and there's ALOT of stores here that import JDM toys. Well worth it if you do! Better than hotwheels I say. ;)

Heheh...I thought I had mentioned this before, but nobody seemed to like it. Oh wells...They're a lot of fun to play with. I got a black one. They even got the TRD kit molded onto them! Fast little fellas (relatively, of course). You can find them on EBay. Just try keywords: "RC Celica" They go for about $35-$45 there.

thnx gts808!! I just ordered the silver celica. How fast are these little things anyway? What are they powered by? The higher MHZ or MGHZ (i forgot) is it faster? Just few questions i need somebody to answer for me. Can anybody read Japanese?:D

I seem to recall posting about these things a few months ago. Oh well.

They're not fast compared to real RC cars, but they're only about 1.5" long, so they're pretty quick for their size. Their speed also depends on what motor you get. Most come with the 1.0 engine, but you can get the 2.0 or 2.2. You can also get different gears and tires for the little cars.

If you plan on getting two of them to race with, make sure you buy two that are on different frequencies. They are locked to one of three frequencies. It's marked on the outside of the box.

Check EBay and you should be able to find one. PowerCX bought his on EBay for $45 and it came with the two hop-up motors and all the different tires!

These are FULL FUNCTION R/C cars. F/R/left/right directional. You can even set the alignment if you wanna race on a looped course. You can do anything you would with a regular batt-powered R/C.

how long do they run until you need to charge them up again?

QWKsilvr808
12-23-2001, 02:02 PM
about 2 full minutes... then you charge them for 45 secs. You just snap it onto the side of the remote to charge and it's ready to go. :)

Fourgig

The remote takes 2AA batteries. The car holds its charge in capaciters, I think, cause the car loses its charge in about 10 minutes if you don't run it.

The range is about 10' or so. If you have someone hold the antenna straight for you, the range is about 15'. :)

witch motor does the silver celica come with? 1.0,2.0,2.2, or 3.0? Where can i find the 3.0 motor?

QWKsilvr808
12-25-2001, 08:20 PM
the Celica unfortunately comes with the 1.0 motor, ppl have told me it's pretty slow. Same as the RX-7. You can order the 3.0 online at e-bay for about $10. :) My Skyline has the 2.2 so it's pretty quick, but I'm gonna get the 3.0 from e-bay too I think.

here's a site by a local person about these things and some tips on modding them: www.lava.net/~gsxr

Those things are sweet. Did any one notice how cheap they are. they are like 20 bucks and the 3.0 motor is like 3 or 4 dollars. I am going to order the celica and the 3.0 motor also another car but I haven't decided which one I want.

Ok KevinO just called me to tell me some of the guys from the Japan office just flew in today with some CHAR-G Hachis with 3.0 motors, set up a course in the office and spent the whole day racing. The 3.0 apparently is MUCH quicker than my 2.2, so much so that the car becomes hard to handle, needing much better tires to keep it from spinning out in the turns. I can see how this can be true because I spin mine out alot too if I'm not careful. Straight line speed is amazing so it'd be cool to make a mock scale 1/4 mile to drag your friends on with this motor, but for the most part the guys said the 1.0 motor was best for tight track racing.

Mmmm gotta find me a Hachi with the drift setup, see if I can swap the body, and slap a new motor in it. :)
