I was wondering how you would describe the sound the car makes when it needs the tensioner replaced. Is it just a sqeeking sound or is there a "metal rubbing on metal" sound?
My car makes the "metal on metal" sound after it has warmed up. I can hear it when the car in around 3500-4000 rpm's. It is louder when the car is going 50-60 mph than when it is sitting still.
I took my car to toyota to check this sound out. I knew they would probably say that they could not duplicate the sound so I brought it in when it was making the sound. They told me there was nobody who could come look at it and to just leave it. I told them it dosn't almays make the sound and they should come now. They jsut said nobody was there. Sure enough when I go to pick up the car they say they cold not duplicate the sound. arggg. Wouldn't you know it on my way home the car started making the noise again. arggg.
Last part of this. If it is the belt tensioner is it something that can cause problems for the engine o is it just something that is annoying ?
