I just got another notice that my State Farm insurance is going up again due to excessive claims on Celicas.

Given what my coverage is, my age, and driving record, I can't imagine how you under 25 guys can afford to insure your cars.

All I want for Christmas is for Celica owners to stop blowing up their motors, driving off the road, getting on the evening news.

Have a safe Christmas and New Year.

That's my insurance company. I hope that don't pull the same stuff on me.

I just got into an accident last week, and I have State Farm (so did the other guy). :o Wasn't my fault the guy didn't have his headlights on, but he had the right of way. I' turning 25 in 2 1/2 weeks, and my insurance is still going down since I haven't had an accident in a long time. :) Thank god!

My insurance has gone up since I got it. It started out at $230/month when I first got the car, and now it's at $360/month. I had some tickets a few months before I got my Celica, and that hurt me. And one accident. Damn insurance is too high. Oh well, it taught me how to DRIVE. :D

Glad to hear you're OK, Blue Bomber. Accidents will happen.

I'm 38, have a clean driving and accident record, have a high deductable ($1000), and live in Colorado (a high, no-fault insurance state where just over half the drivers on the road are carrying insurance).

I'm going to be paying ~$96/month, so I guess yota_racer has me beat  That's after several discounts too!

The last time rates climed this fast on me was on my 1990 Geo Tracker. I bought one the first year they were out ('90?), and the rates weren't too bad. As they became very popular with teenagers and new drivers in Colorado (cheap, 4x4, tons of fun), claims skyrocketed. I sold the vehicle when insurance rates went past $90/month (that's in 1992, mind you!) for a $9000 truck.

easiest way is to sweet talk mommy (in my case) or a close relative with a sports car (96 'vette in my moms case) into putting you on their insurance. to list the car under myself was going to be 600+ every three months, with my mom hookin it up i'm down to like 2-300 every 6 months. not positive already having a sports car made the difference or if it was just her good driving record. either way i'm thankful

You think $90/month is expensive???

I lived in NYC, I used to pay almost $200/month with $1000 deductible, and the car was not even under my name, everyone on the policy including me had perfect 5-year driving record, also I needed to rent a garage to store the car $60/month, which was considered cheap. If I were to registered the car and get insurance, it would've been $4000 / Yr, with perfect driving record but under 25 yrs old.

I think it's cheaper if I just get car service every time I need a car.

Dealer Xing: So, that's why everyone in the NYC-based Sit-Coms walks or take the train, eh?

I grew up in Iowa where insurance is really cheap; I think its the second cheapest in the US. Moving to Colorado was enough of a shock. I can't imagine what I'd be paying if I were in NYC or California.

Still, car insurance, what a rip. I especially enjoy the BS under/uninsured that we pay in Colorado. It's to cover ourselves when the &$^#er that hits me doesn't have insurance. Sigh.

Recently I realized my deductable is at $250!!! WTF? I should make it higher so I can save some cash. Jesus. I'm 22 single male and I pay like $210 a month. It sucks. I'm hoping to change insurance companies and get a better rate. Or at least adjust my deductable which is insanely low and probably driving my rate into the stratosphere.

I'm 19 and pay a $203 a month for insurance... but Geico does some stupid pay for 4 months, don't pay for 2 months thing, so its more like $305 for 4 months, then 2 months off.. if that makes any sense!

I have some little insurence company and pay 150/month + $250deposite a year. This is pretty good for me...19years old, 3 Claims(Rear ended someone when I was 16, ripped off my buddies mirror on his 300ZX...and a week after I got my car, some A-Hole ran into me in a parking lot, but in good ol AZ, you can't claim fault on private property, so I had a big claim on my celica that wasn't even my fault) and 3 tickets in 4 years..Damn, ive been doing pretty good(knock on wood) this last year, no tickets or claimes. At least I learned to drive now..

Problem now is that it took me forever to find my insurence company and now they're getting taken over by some bigger insurence company and my rates are ganna go through the roof...like $700+..I may have to say good by celica, I refuse to pay that kind of money.

last year before my insurance went down i was paying 5300 a year on my maxima... granted i live in NJ and I was forced to get full coverage cause it was a lease, not to mention the 6 points of tickets + my inexperienced driver probation period... it was pretty much the worst combo possible... and since i was with my parents on their policy the insurance company had me on the highest liability car.. which was a big SUV.

now its down to 1046... turning 21 and dumping all those points at the same time... plus having the ability to change driver car designations.... gotta love it.

Man some of you guys have it easy, im 20 right now and pay some $500 odd dollars for a six month premium on my dad's insurance. If I was under my own name I'd be paying $1800 premium !!! Granted its because I have more than a few speeding tickets and so does my father. Luckily theres a small insurance company here that has slightly lower rates and I live in HICKSVILLE KANSAS

CAMmed its obvious its partly due to our situation (age, tickets etc...) but mostly due to the insurance industry greedy hands.: mad:

Heh, that's right insurance in Iowa is dirt cheap, especially when you can get in on your parents policy. I belive mine is > 800 a year. That's for 19, perfect driving record, and one claim ($2200 hit and run on drivers rear quarter pannel).

Of course... it IS Iowa.... so don't be too jealous.

Btw, I have state farm insurance too...
