-Howdy

I am going to put 2 10's subs in my celica. I was wondering if anyone knew the best place to put them. I really didn't want to take away the flip down of the rear seats if possible. I was thinking to put them on the sides next to the trunk door. I don't know if anyone has tried that or seen it. Otherwise if you put them on the floor up will they get injured if you put objects in your trunk?

-Thanks

If you put em in the floor of the hatch, just put some grills over them and they'll be fine.

are u talking two 10's in separate enclosures or one dual enclosure? i have a dual 10 enclosure in my hatch sitting up against the licenseplate/hatch area and haven't had any troubles.

not really sure what u're talking about with still bein able to flipdown the rear seats, i mean they fold toward the front of the car, how would somethin in the hatch effect that? if u're talking about the shield thing that separates the hatch from the passenger area, personally i took it out finding that it rattled slightly and i get more air being pushed past my gord.

my subs have taken a few surface scratch damages and one hole from having cargo in the hatch, which would not have been prevented with the average grill. on the other hand, i bought my subs from BestBuy with a 4 year speaker warranty, from the way the salesman explained it, everytime i take back the speaker i have 4 years from the point of the new one, warranty was well worth the money as i've had 10+ subs replaced, in the last 2.5 years since i got them. not to mention the big nifty collection of "Team Rockford Fosgate" stickers included in the packaging of each new sub :p

Thanks for those replies. I was thinking about putting the subs on the side near the opening of the trunk right after the tires. Do you guys think 2 10's in boxes. One on each side will fit there? Also i am wondering what you guys think of the 10" Fosgate 4 ohms subs. They are 59 on sounddomain.com.
Also on my amp i was thinking boss 300 watt 2 channel do you guys think these are good choices. I am in a medium budget.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm pretty sure you could fit boxes on either side of the hatch fairly well for the 10's. If you have some more money to spend, or if you think you could do it yourself, you could mold fiberglass enclosures that would fit perfectly to the sides of the hatch.

As for the boss amp, you can do better. If you don't have that much money to spend, I would suggest saving up for a while longer and get a quality brand such as MTX, Fosgate, PPI, Soundstream etc. I would think that some places should have after xmas specials. I would check around. You'll be much happier I think with a quality name brand. I had a boss once waaaaay back in the day and it sounded crappy. You get what you pay for.

Couldn't help ya with the subs, I've never heard fosgates other than in Best Buy. I assume they are ok.

are the subs gonna be on the sides facing each other? I was told it's not a good idea to have them firing at each other. Might cancel out some of the bass. I would take the spare tire out and put an enclosure in the spare tire well. I'm doing this with my 12" now. I'm building the box out of MDF, but if i were gonna put 2 10"s there i'd probably use fiberglas to make better use of the space. I'm having to raise up the floor about 4-5" to make space for the box.

Not unless you're sitting in the exact spot where the sound waves intersect exactly opposite one another...To put it another way, the bass can cancel with the subs firing in the sane direction as well. It depends on where YOU are relative to the subs...
