Scion will fail. The coupe looks like a squished Pontiac Aztek and as for the box on wheels... WHY!? How did these designs come from the same company that made the 4th gen Supra and current gen Celica?

I think toyota is great, but the Scion thing won't work.. people are not adopting to the new look well enough yet!!

The Scion name is toyota's way of reachin out to the kids (no offense to any of you as I'm a lil' older). It's supposed to be a very affordable line of cars that have a lil' crazy look that teenagers might go for.

even with all the stuff added to it, it still ugly IMO

I guess the do market research and decide this is what the public wants. That's the only explaination I can think of. No group of designers and engineers could be that stupid and tasteless to create something like that.
My question is, when they do market research, where are the people that want sporty cars that aren't softened for the general public?

Its cheap reliable transportation that Toyota is actually going out of its way to make accessable to the aftermarket. Greddy even has a turbo kit for it already. I say its about friggin time. Yeah it looks kinda heinous but hey - if its cheap enough who cares. We'll have to see how it does. My FX-16 was fugly too but I loved that car to bits because it had it where it counted.

Frankly I think the main thing they are missing is horsepower. I mean hell - look what people are willing to shell out for the WRX and its all fugly looking. Imagine how much more popular a somewhat less fugly car with a very moddable high displacement inline 4 would sell. We all know Toyota has the skills to make a swet lookin car, now we just need em to put 2 and 2 together on the power end.

To be somewhat synical though, I kind of suspect Scion might be way to sell more Japan built cars in the US - the volume figures are right on, the projected size (compact & light) makes it easy to use small displacement economical clean burning JDM engines.... cheap imort tariffs and its the perfect line of cars to import to offset the CAFE hit from all the heavy ass V8 Toyota trucks and Lexus cruisers.

I hope they bring the WiLL VS (however you spell it).
The Scion line is based on the WiLL cars, and the VS is a 5 door-not-quite-wagon-not-quite-coupe-almost-liftback powered by the 2zz-ge.
The front end looks cool, but the back end is awkward. Now if Toyota brought over the new Caldina... :drool:

step wagons are the $hit!!!in japan there is a big following.i guess the heads in japan figured w/the import scene growin that it will mirror the car scene in japan. lets not let them down cause if sales are up for jdmlike cars they might bring the new GTR over when it comes out.
