well i pulled up next to an old white rx7 on the way home from waffle house tonight at a red light. just started pulling off normally at the light and switched into 2nd at about 30 or so, then the rx7 punches it a little so i floor it (still in second mind you) and raced up to about 90 on an empty 4 lane rd. he inched on me through 2nd and 3rd and by the time i hit 90 i was almost at his back bumper, not so bad against a twin turbo i dont guess. he had one passenger in his car and i had one as well and my sytem in the back, my tank was at three notches as well. just thought i'd share one of my rare racing stories with you guys.

EDIT: I have a stock 6spd btw

Cool race man. Just FYI 2nd gen RX-7's were single turbo. 86-88 had 180hp, 89-91 had 200hp and they tipped the scales at about 2900 lbs. Stock vs stock performance between both cars is pretty close although I would give the edge to the GTS. Of course, like any other turbo car it can be made pretty fast when modded.

Not all 2nd Gens were Turbo fed. Most of Mazda's sales went to the non-Turbo powered Rotory monster. All 3rd Gens were TwinTurbo, and I believe they were dual rotored, not sure about that though. Just FYI.

Yeah Mike thanks, I was aware that not all 2nd gen RX-7 were turbo. I owned a 87 RX-7 sport. When I said that all 2nd gens were single turbo it was implied that I was refering to all turbo models and not all 2nd gens. You're right about the 3rd gens, they were all TT and yes all RX-7s were twin rotor from the factory.
