Yeah, it appears to be painted with primer, what a moron. And check out that great fit, looks like he still has the hood open.

This is why carbon fiber hoods have the reputation for taking off at 130mph, crappy fit. There is no reason not to paint carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is very strong for its weight, that's why race cars like F1 and CART as well super expensive street cars like Ferraris use carbon fiber extensively. Leaving carbon fiber unpainted is somewhat of a ricer trick, like it implies high performance or something. Carbon fiber is woven carbon filaments set in an epoxy resin.

candy paint is a type of paint that never turns opaque, meaning you can see through the paint, kinda like colored tint. The bad thing is that it is hard to control the color it comes out so you can never have the exact shade of a certain color.

Painted CF or candy-painted CF is just for show. They do have color-carbon/kevlar but it is like checkered red/black and yellow/black, etc. They also have various patterns for CF (weaving pattern for colored carbon) but not everyone offers this because it can get expensive to buy a bunch of rolls of different material just to make a couple custom hoods.
